Papa Justus Barasa Ikidi

1938 – 2019

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of our beloved father, lay reader (rtd), Papa Justus Barasa Ikidi (Meja Tai) on August 17, 2019.

Son of the late Jacob Amekileng and late Norah Karikonyi. Loving husband of Tan Matildah Kadili Ashepete. Brother of John Imayah of Lunyu Farm and Yaya Josephine Eya Nasike (Makutano, Cherengani). Father of Dedan Ikidi, Joshua Oswana, Titus Imayah (Kesogon Pri), the late Grace Nasilomo, Janet Tan (Lolkirnget Pri), Lucas Barasa (NMG), Alice Karikonyi (AIC Gutongorio) and Lillian Atyang.

He has left behind 40 grandchildren including Rhoda Karikonyi, Hillary Ogulei (Nrb), Matilda Ashepete (Kibabii Uni), Elisha Amekileng (Nrb), Elizabeth Karikonyi KU ,Vivian Kapuyan (Co-operative Uni), June lmooh (TUK),Tabitha Karikonyi (Baraton Uni), Newton and Cynthia (Lolkirnget Secondary), Adrian, Edwin and Adams (St. Teresa, Bikeke),Antonio Obashe and Allen Barasa (St Peter’s Mumias), Valentine lmaya (Limuru Girls), Clinton Amekileng (Emmanuel ACK Sec), Adrian (Blue Hills Academy) and Adriel Obashe (Lakewood Academy), Syneider Akinyi (Verah Beauty College) and Abigael Barasa (Bethel Springs, Utawala).

In-law of the late Ombui Kibagendi and Jerusha Moraa, Mr Ebo Ekoine and Mrs. Joan Ekoine, Mr Wenceslaus Otwane and the late Pulcharia Asabiti and Mr Cassim Makong, Jamila Makong and Mary Makong. Father-in-law  of the late Monica Bosibori, Emily Omunyin, Carolyne Dedeya, Halima Chemtai and Bosco Imooh.

The cortege leaves Mt Elgon Hospital Mortuary-Kitale Thursday, August 22nd at 10.00am for a church service at Waitaluk ACK church. The cortege will later be taken to his home in Wehoya Farm, Maili-Saba along the Eldoret-Kitale road for burial on Saturday, August 24th, 2019.
