Perpetua Wambui Wango

(1932 — 2025)

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Mama Perpetua Wambui Wango on 29th April, 2025, after a long iliness bravely endured. She was the respected Matriarch of the family,a devoted former teacher and a great mentor and role model to many.

Beloved daughter of the late Reverend Ishmael Wango and the late Alexandra Njeri Wango of Thogoto, Kikuyu, Kiambu County.

Mother of Prof. Mumbi Mwangi (St. Cloud State University, USA), Prof. Olive Mwihaki Mugenda (former VC-Kenyatta University), Mrs. Florence Wairimu Mbugua (Ndumberi) and Dr. Kamau Wango (Kenyatta University).

Mother-in-law of Francis Kuira Mwangi, the late Prof. Abel Gitau Mugenda, the late Joseph Kiarie Mbugua and Dr. Jennifer Wango.

Sister of the late Zakayo Mwangi, late Zibiah Wangari, late Willie Njoroge, Anna Nyambura, late Mannaseh Makumi, Deborah Negatho and George Githii.

Auntie of the late George Mwagiru, Dr. Wanjiku Mwotia, Ciugu Mwagiru, Prof. Makumi and Jerusha Mwagiru, Njeri and Joe Mwangi, James Muchiri (USA), Wango Njoroge, Sheila Njeri Mwangi and Georgina Njeri among others.

Adored grandmother of Dr. Njeri Clement, Perpetua Wambui, Olive Jones, Ruth and George Ochieng, James Nyoike, Florence Hill (all of USA), late Crispus Mwangi,Albert Gitau, Chris and Sylvia Nyoike, Dr. Angela and Sam Mbugua (USA), Lynda and Brian Selelo, Angela Wambui, Sylvia Murugi, Karen and David Mwalo, Priscilla Wambui, Alex Mbugua, Brian and Maureen Nyoike, lan and Susan Nyoike, and Wambugu Wango.

Great-grandmother of Matthew, Njambi, Kuira, Ethan N.,Vanessa, Maxx, Angel, Jaiden, Angelo, Njeri, Nyoike, Aiden, Allen, Aidan, Ethan W., Zuri, Kimari, Austin, Kayla, Victoria, Ryan, Luke, Zaira, Mosi, Amari S., Hope, Mika, Amari N.

Daily prayers are taking place at both Thogoto and Runda from 4.00pm.

The cortege will leave Kenyatta University Referral Hospital Funeral Home (Northern Bypass) on Friday 16th May, 2025 at 7.00am for a funeral service at the Presbyterian University of East Africa, Graduation Square (opposite Kikuyu High School, Thogoto) starting at !0.00am. Burial will follow thereafter at her home in Thogoto, Kikuyu.
