It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the demise of our beloved Professor Barasa Charles Cleophas Wangila which occurred on Friday 30th August, 2019 at Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu.

He was a Professor of Aquatic Science in the Department of Biological Sciences, School of Natural Sciences, at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology Prof Wangila was the Principal of Western University College of Science and Technology (WUCST) from 2003 to 2006. He later became the Founding Vice Chancellor of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology from 2007 to 2013.

Son of the late Papa Dismas Wangila (Omuyitu) and the late Mama Anielina Nangila (Omukwangwa). Husband of Violet Nafula Barasa. Father of Crispinus Wangila (Deputy Head Teacher) and Dr Sandra Barasa (Netherlands), Dr. Fernando Barasa (Director, NTSA), Dr. Laura Barasa (UoN) and Eng. Fidencio Barasa (Businessman). Father-in-law of Joseph Ngundo (Netherlands) and Mike Lalampaa (HELB). Grandfather of Leo Jude Ngundo, Louisa Maria, Sophie Marie Lalampaa, Arielle Lalampaa, Juan Barasa, Theo Barasa, Aggrey. Elisabeth, Isaac, Tony and Martha Anlelin.

Family and friends are meeting daily at his Bungoma Residence and at Kakamega Milimani Estate.

The cortege will leave Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu on Thursday 5th September, 2019 to Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology for a service at the Graduation Square after which the procession will leave for his residence in Kimilili, Bungoma County for an overnight stay.

Prof. Wangila will be laid to rest on Saturday 7th September, 2019 at his home in Kitayi Village, Kibingei Ward, Kimilili Sub-county, Bungoma County.

May his soul rest in eternal peace
