April 1st 1952 – June 7th 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the promotion to glory of a truly remarkable woman and Mum to many, Margaret Akoth Diang’a. She passed away in her home on June 7th 2025 after a long illness bravely borne.

She was the loving wife of George Diang’a and a great and inspiring Mama of Alice and the late William Nyang’on, Roseline and John Muchiri, Bishop Jeff and Pastor Lydiah Diang’a Julie and Martin Tembwa, Kasera and Luke Carter. She was also a great and super granny to her grandkids, Ian, Lynn, Eric, Elsie. Eugene, jeshuran, George, King, Alvin, Maggie, Telo and Loyo.

She was a daughter of the late Jason and the late Dorcas Obonde of Katwenga Uyoma. She was a sister of the late Dan, the late Hellen, the late Jim, the late Manase, Emily, Ruth, POnyango, PObonde and Walter.

She was a dedicated leader and is remembered for her great leadership prowess in whichever endeavour she undertook. Standard Newspapers (Classifieds) Ltd and the Anglican Church of Kenya (Kasarani Parish) can attest to this. Her immeasurable strength and fortitude held the Family together through good times and bad times. Her passion for the ultimate goodwill of all those around her will surely be missed. Throughout her life, Mama’s most meaningful joys were her love for family and friends.

A church service will be held on 18th June 2025 in St. Stephens ACK Church Cieko Kasarani to celebrate and thank God for her life.

Her final journey will begin on 20th June 2025 from KUTRH, Thika Road to home. Mama will be laid to rest on 21st June 2025 in her home in Sikala Village, Uyundo in Ugenya. Siaya County.

She was the mother of Dr. Elizabeth Wangui & Clement Onyiego, Annie Wambui. Dr. Dominic Getau & Rachael Muthoni, Anthony Kamau & Cecilia Gathoni, Richard Njuguna & Jane Wangari,  Monicah Gitau-O’Reilly & Michael O’Reilly and Angela Wanjiru.

Sister of the late Joseph Nguri, Salome Wanjiru, Mrs. Bridgette Kariuki, the late Pauline Njeri, Augustine Njoroge, Stephen Kimani, Mrs. Teresia Kabuiya Mukura, Gabriel Mburu, Dorothy Warribui & the late Bathlomeo Warui.

She was the grandmother of Christopher Karanja, Lina Njoki, Benson Kinuthia, Evelyne Njoki & William Kailikia, Felix Getau & Francisca Mweru, Catherine Njoki & David Mucene, Annette Njoki, the late Stephen Maina, Sharon Wambui, Jeremiah Baraka, Kylene Ng’endo, Bernard Karanja, Alicia Njoki, Rosemary Muthoni.

She was the great-grandmother of Furaha Jewel Wangari, Flint Kinyanjui, Kailikia Kamande„ Kaume Kamande, Freema Wanjiru.

Daily meetings for funeral arrangements are being held at her home in Wamwangi, Gatundu South at 4:00 pm and at Steve Lacy’s Restaurant, Parkroad at 5:00 pm.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, 14th June, 2025 at 2:00 pm at her home.

The cortege will leave Montezuma Funeral Home, Kabati on Tuesday. 17th June at 8700 am, The funeral procession will proceed to Mary Immaculate Catholic Church,Wamwangi, for the funeral service at 10:00 am followed by the interment at her home.

Born in 1920, Rtd LP, Micheal Kimuli Katunge (OSB) Mwene lvia was the devoted father of 15 children – 6 daughters and 9 sons namely: Kimeu, Mateta, Wanza, Mutulu, Ngunga, the late Ngolo, the late Mbithi, the late Nguta, Ndumba, Makau, the late Susan, Juma, the late Kyalo, Rev Mbai and Matano.

Father-in-law of the late Elizabeth Kimeu. Grishon Kimeu, the late Francis Kithuku, Micheal Muisyo, Regina Ngunga, Racheal Ngolo, Francisca Mbithi, Daniel Kitulu, Angela Makau, Francis Mwaka,Veronica Juma, Ven Canon Scholar Mbai and Prisca Matano (Jane).

She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Mwaura Mburu. Doting mother of Stephen Munene Mwaura and Naomi Muthoni, Beatrice Wambui Mwaura and Mark Edwin Mathenge. Nancy was grandmother of Stephanie Mugure Munene, Steven Mwaura Munene and Milan Muthoni.

Eulogy

BIRTH/ EARLY CHILD LIFE

Christine Kwamboka was born on August 2, 1989 In Boglakumu Sub-location, Bonchari, Kisii County. She was the firstborn child of the late Mzee Innocent Onyancha and Mama Elizabeth Omwega. She grew up in a loving Christian home alongside her four siblings: Rebecca, Dickson, Joan, and Vincent.

EDUCATION

Christine began her education at Bogiakumu Primary School in 1994 till 2003. She then proceeded to Ekerubo Secondary School from 2004 till 2007. Christine later enrolled in a secretarial course at St.Judy College in 2008, where she completed her secretarial certification.

BAPTISM

In 2013, she was baptized at Kitengela SDA Church, Kajiado county affirming her commitment to her faith.

WORK EXPERIENCE

She began her professional career as a clerk at Masai Group, where she worked from 2014 to 2020. Afterward, she ventured into small-scale business, becoming a respected businesslady.

MARRIAGE

On April 10, 2010. she got married to Danvas Gwaro. Their union was blessed with two beautiful children: Giftannah (13 years old) and Jimmicent (7 years old), both of whom she dearly loved and nurtured with grace.

ILLNESS

Christine started feeling unwell in March 2023 with symptoms of abdominal pain and stomach obstruction. After several tests, she was diagnosed with gastric cancer in August 2023. She started treatment immediately, first at Coptic Hospital, and later at Meditest and Kenyatta Hospitals. She was cleared from Kenyatta hospital to travel to the United States of America ( USA).
Upon arrival in USA in January 2025, she started feeling unwell and checked into John Peter Smith (JPS) Hospital for further evaluation. It was determined that the cancer had unfortunately relapsed. She resumed treatment at JPS Hospital until end of March 2025. On April 15th 2025 her condition worsened when her blood pressure dropped. She was rushed to Methodist Hospital in Mansfield where she continued to receive treatment. Despite all efforts, she peacefully rested on May, 28th 2025 at 7.13am.

2nd April 1987 – 5th June 2025

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Millicent Atieno Amach Thumbi on Thursday 5th June 2025 at the Nairobi Hospital after a short illness.

She was the daughter of the late Linus Douglas Amach and the late Munde Koga Domitilla.

Millicent was the loving wife of Silvester Thumbi Ngatia (Brookside Ltd) and loving mother of Trevor Ngatia Thumbi (Starehe Boys Centre) and Tamar Wanjiru Thumbi (Alliance Girls High School).

She was a loving sister of Caroline, Hellen, Kennedy, John, Grace, John Aluoch, Pauline, Angela and the late Jack.

She was the cherished daughter in law of Rtd WO I Charles Ngatia Thumbi and Agnes Wanjiru Ngatia and a beloved sister-in-law of Onesmus, John and Tess, Jacinta and Francis, Alfred and Joan, Winnie and Emma.

She was an employee of M-Gas.

The Cortege will leave Umash Funeral home Nakuru on Thursday 12th June 2025, for a Requiem Mass and an overnight stay at her Nakuru residence. Veronica was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Matoke Achoki. Lukeson was the devoted husband of Dr. Chrocossicus N. Njeru, and a loving father of Gitonga and Murimi. He was a proud father-in-law of Sue, and a joyful grandfather of little Ax and Isla, who brought so much light into his later years.

Born of the late M’chambari Kinoro and the late Annah Kaguru, Lukeson grew into a man of principle, kindness, and quiet strength. He was a beloved brother of Mugambi, Mutegi, Ndeke, Basilio, Murithi, Gitonga, Mwireri, Kimathi, Mugendi, Mutembei, Mwangangi, Makena Purity, Murugi, and the late Kinyua.

Cherished brother-in-law of Alice, Nathan, the late Dr. Daniel Luvai, Nchira, Mukiria, Itumbi Kaindi, Mwende, Karimi, and Lucy.

Following the demise and subsequent burial of the late Patrick Milimu Shilasi (Omar Bongo) we wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all those who walked with us the journey from the time he was taken ill until when we laid him to rest.

First and foremost we want to thank UNICEF through Cigna International who for over 30 years stood in the gap and took care of his medical expenses until his demise. The Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu and Nairobi, Oasis Hospital in Kakamega. The Doctors who walked with him through this journey Dr. Ahmed Ali Yousef, Dr. Jill Singh, Dr. Jayden, Dr. Ngunga, Dr. Otieno the cardiologist.

She was sister of Aaron, Beatrice, Joseph, the late Amos, Nyaribo, and Aburi.

Sister-in-law of David, James, Lawrence, George, Ronald, John, Moses, Jeremiah, Omwando, Zakayodoseph, Evans, Naftali, Joshua, Silas Makori, Dorcah, Queen, Gladys, Grace, Catherine, Beatrice, Esther, Zipporah, Everlyn, Marcella, and Mary Moraa. She was a beloved aunt, cousin, and friend of many.

Dinah was a devout member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, worshipping at Rubi SDA Church, where she actively served in the Women’s Ministry and supported the Youth Department. A dedicated teacher of Special Needs Education, she served at Joyland Special School Kisumu and later at Kisii Special School until her passing.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, 13th June 2025 at her home in Mosocho, Kisii County, starting at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow thereafter.
