Born on November 17th 1973 in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, he was the son of Njake Gatua Thinwa and Naomi Wanjiku (of Turbo, Eldoret).

He was a devoted husband of Esther Njake (Muigo) and a loving father of Faith Wanjiku, Joy Wambui, and Joel Gatua (of Dallas, USA).

He was a brother of Paul Maina, Ruth Wamboi, the late Wilson Njenga, Francis Moshoi, Mary Wanjiru, Dorcas Wangui, and Charles Waweru.

Richard was a son-in-law of Margaret Gathogo (of Githunguri, kiambu) and a brother-in-law of Mary Maina and Pastor Lawrence Maina, Francis Gathogo, James Ngariu, Mary Wanjiku, Teresiah Nyambura, and George Mururi. He was a nephew, cousin, uncle, and a friend to many.

Mary was the beloved wife of the late David Kamau Thiong’o; devoted mother of Maureen Gakenia Kamau and Herman Thiong’o Kamau; a doting grandmother of Kwame Musumba; and mother-in-law of Margaret Wangui Wakanyi.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Julius Ngugi and the late Beth Wanjiku Ngugi. The first-born among her siblings, she was a sister to: the late John Ndiva (brother): the late Thomas Kamau (brother); Julia Wanjiru (sister): Peter Kariuki (brother); Margaret Nyarnbura (sister); Charles Wainaina (brother); Josphat Njoroge (brother); and Patrick Nyoike (brother).

She was a sister-in-law to many, a cousin to many, an aunt to many, and a dear friend to many.

She faithfully served as a nurse at Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital until her retirement.

A Requiem Mass will be held on Friday, 31st October 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Varsity Ville—Kamakis (Eastern Bypass).

Following a brief service and viewing, the cortege will leave the Kenyatta University Funeral Home at 7:30am on Thursday 30th October for the memorial service and burial at the family’s home in Nduiga Kiandu, Nyeri.

Wanjiku was deeply loved and will be fondly remembered for her warmth, laughter, and the joy she brought into the lives of all who knew her.

With deep sorrow, yet in humble submission to God’s perfect will, we announce the passing of Mr. David Kariuki Thuku, who went to be with the Lord on Friday, 24th October 2025, following a long and brave battle with Illness.

David joined Daystar University on 5th September 1994 and faithfully served in various capacities for 31 years. He held the positions of Associate Dean and Dean of Students Affairs for 21 years, demonstrating exceptional leadership, dedication, and compassion. In February 2015, he was re-deployed to serve as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Mission and Theology, a role he held with equal commitment until his demise. David’s unwavering service and care for both students and colleagues have left an indelible mark on the Daystar community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and worked with him.

He was also a Church Elder at P C.E.A. Bahati Martyrs’ Parish, where he faithfully served God and the congregation for many years.

He was the beloved husband of Mrs. Irene Wangui Thuku and cherished son of the late Mr. Joseph Thuku and the late Mrs. Susan Wangari Thuku and a loving brother of Ndirangu, Muthoni and Late Maigua, Mwangi and Jane, Late Margaret and Kariuki, Wanjiku and Gichamba, Christine and Karnali, Njen and Ndirangu, Thogori.

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of Gods will that we announce the passing of Samwel Ogango Arum, who died suddenly on Sunday, October 19th, 2025. He was a legendary basketball player with Langata Basketball (LA Bronx), where he excelled on the court and mentored youth with passion. He thrived as a Digital Marketing and Communication Specialist, notably with Face by Sarah, Kenya Red Cross, University of Nairobi and was a thoughtful explorer of philosophy, political science, and faith as a born-again Christian. Samwel brought his whole heart to everything he did, leaving a lasting impact on all who interacted with him.

Samwel was the beloved son of Mr. Shadrack and Priscah Arum of Kamgere, Rusinga, Homabay County. He was a cherished brother of Susan Jobando, John Arum and James Arum.

Brother-in-Law of Peter Jobando and Janet Ngina Arum. Uncle of Loise, Cedric, Lwanda, Abigail, Alaine, Austin amongst others.

He was grandson of the late James & the late Isdora Arum, the late Hellena & Mama Jane Arum, the late Antipa Otieno and Mama Grace Otieno of Alego Kadenge.

He was nephew of the late Okoth, the late Steve, the late Ogweno, Ooko, Syprose, Lucy, Beryl, the late Beatrice, Nesila Achieng, Pesilla, Truphena, Judith, Elizabeth, Susan, Roselyn and Peres, the Aderos, the Aboges, the Malombos, the Oumas, the Wagumbas, Oleches, Amadis, Ogundas, Okwiris, Awayos, Ogutus, Ochares & Naphtali’s amongst others.

His warm spirit and presence will be profoundly missed by his family and all who knew him.

It is with deep sorrow that the Okumu family announces the passing of our beloved firstborn son and brother, Arthur Clifford Ochieng Okumu.

Arthur was the cherished son of Joseph Okumu and Vicki Okumu; devoted brother of Gloria Okumu, Dr. Rowland Okello Okumu, Kim Anthony Okumu, and Barbara Atoz Okumu.

He was brother in law of Faith Mutua Okello and Lynn Mwangangi Okumu; and a loving uncle of Hawi, Jedidah, Kinda,Amani, and Wema.

He was also a beloved grandson and nephew and cousin to many.

He is an alumnus of Starehe Boys Centre and graduated with a B.Corn from Kenyatta University and a CPA from Strathmore University. He later worked at GlaxoSmithKline and Barclays Bank.

A funeral mass will be held at Nairobi Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, 29th October 2025, at 2pm.

Professor Misiko was a distinguished scholar and educator who served at Egerton University upto 1998 when he retired.

Born on 11th June 1932 to the late Mzee Nicholas Walumoli Misiko and the late Susana Namikoye in Chelekeyi—Misikhu, he was the beloved husband of the late Esther Jepkorir Misiko, and loving father of Cynthia Nasike Chebii, Prof Chelagat Namulunda Misiko, Nafula Elizabeth Misiko, David Tembi Misiko, Ruth Misiko Villinger and Paul Mabonga Misiko.
