It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Fred Oiienda Gondi, which occurred on 7th October 2025 in Minnesota, U.S.A.

Fred was a beloved son of Moses Ojienda and Irene Leah Ojienda, and a step-son to Florence Okemwa.

He was the loving husband of Sylvia Kelonye, and devoted father to Lloyd Gondi Ojienda.

He was a cherished brother of Billy Ojienda, Alfred Ojienda, and Sheba Ojienda, and a treasured grandson of Fred Ojienda, the late Sophia Wanjiku, the late Joyce Chemeng’ich and William Kiarie.

Fred was a nephew of the late Joseph and Charles Ojienda, David, Joyce, Jacinta, Winnie, Mary, Margaret Ojienda, Helen, James, and Catherine Kiarie.

He was a dear cousin of Len, Sheba, Sophie, Sher-a, Fridah, Mike, Maryanne, Sofia, Derrick, Edgar, Sharo, Manu, Michael, Kevin, Brian, Bill, and Cole.

Prayers and funeral arrangements are ongoing at his father’s residence in Kasarani.

We regret to announce the death of Mzee Andrew Ong’ayo Shikoto of Butsotso Bakobelo clan, who was a Retired Senior Assistant Chief of the larger Indangalasia Sub-location and former Deputy Mayor of Kakamega Municipality in the 1980s. He was also a Former KANU chairman Kakamega branch. He passed away on Friday, the 17th October 2025, at Oasis Hospital, Kakamega bravely borne.

He was the first born Son of the late Mzee Elikana Shikoto and the late Mama Vitsengwa of Bakhulunya clan.

He was a Loving husband of Berita, Sevenzia, Rose and the late Peritta Ayuma. He was a beloved Dad of the late Major Ong’ayo,Wenslaus, Jomo, Kennedy, Otanga, Chimasia, Mayula, Fred, Charles, George, Cornel, Timothy, Gibson, Clay, Juliet, Everline, Lilian, Noel, Mildred, Christine, Maximila, and the late Paul, late Viona.

He was a brother of Mzee Socha,Akwabi, Shimenga,VVitambila, Omenda, Sophia, Leah, and the late YUNIA and others.

An adorable father-in-law of Marcella, Violet, Mercy, Loice, Ayeta, Christine, Jacqueline, Amain, Mary, Zeinah, Emmely, Doreen, Dorothy, Jentrika, Truphena, Mulekano, Likhalakha, Mudaki, amongst others.

Brother-in-law of Muhambe, Nasiali, Gladys, Selina, Julieta, the late Jenifa, Esther, Respa, Mary and the late David, the late Benard Lukale among others.

He was an uncle of Mary and many others. He has left several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The body is lying at the Kakamega County hospital Morgue. It will be removed on 29th October 2025 at 10M a.m., and thereafter taken to St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Kakamega for a Requiem mass, before proceeding to his home at Ebwambwa. The burial service will take place on Friday, 31st. October 2025, as from 9.00 am at his home in Ebwambwa Village by St. Joseph’s Cathedral Kakamega.

Gichiri was the eldest child of the late Peter Ndua Gichiri and the late Elizabeth Njeri Ndua of Mutomo Village.

Until his death he was a Senior Consultant at Maritime Business & Economic Consultants Limited and a former Managing Director at Kenya Ports Authority.

Beloved husband of Catherine Warnuyu Gichiri and Son in Law of Isabella Muthoni and the late Arthur Kabugi, Cherished Father of Caroline Gichiri, Denis Ndua (KPA), Kabugi Arthur (KR.A). Muthoni Gichiri (USA) and Debora Gikeno.

He was a brother of Agnes Nuna, Teresia Nioki, James Gitau, the late George Wachira, the late John Thuo, Regina Murugi, Paul Ngugi, Magdalene Wambui and Monica Wanjeri.

Loving grandfather of Imani Njeri, Lee Gichiri, Levi Kaginibi and Luke Kamiti.

Born on 4th July 1931 in Kerarapon, Ngong, the late Simon Joseph Ole Karasha was the beloved son of the late Joseph Masek Karasha and the late Grace Tiebo Karasha.

He was a loving husband of Serah Karasha, Jacinta Karasha, Sophia Karasha, Jane Karasha, and Cecilia Karasha. He was a cherished father to the lateWilliam,Sankale, Naeku,the late Munyua, the late Naserian, the late Muchanga, the late Jeniffer, Regina, Said Ali, Salome, Agnes, Peter, David, Masek, Silole, Joe (USA), Maxwell, Solomon, Robin,Amon, and Sian. He was a doting grandfather to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

The body will leave Montezuma Funeral Home on Friday, 7th November 2025 for Sidindi, where George will be laid to rest on Saturday, 8th November 2025 at the Siddondo home, Umala Village, Sidindi Ward, Ugunja, Siaya County.

He was husband of the late Lucy Njeri Oketch, and father of George Harrison Muchunu, Daniel Odhiambo, Rosemary Aboge, Samuel Omondi, the late Benson Kariuki, Edward Oketch, Gordon Rogo, Dr. Alex Oketch and Charles Dowo.

Father-in-law of Eunice Wanjiru, Esther Wanjiku, Jannet Ondulo, Irene Wanjiku, Shirley Oketch and Nancy Musykoyo. He was a great-grandfather, grandfather, father, uncle, cousin and friend to many.

The cortege will leave Eldoret Hospital Morgue on Friday 24th October at 2.00 pm for a requiem service at St. Christopher’s ACK Turbo parish followed by a night vigil at his home in Kilimani area (Kambi mapesa). Burial will take place on Saturday 25th October 2025 from 9.00 am at St. Christopher’s ACK Turbo parish.
