It is with deep emotion and great honour that we share news of the beloved Florence Wacuka Njeri Mathu. What a life well lived!

She was the second born to Eliud Mathu and Jane Muthoni, sister of John Karuga (Nyandarua), Francis Mwangi (Kitale), and Rose Wanjiku (Karatina).

Mother of Robert Chege Mathu (Burundi Stock Exchange) and Hawa Mathu, Stephen Mwangi Mathu (Synesis Capital, Nairobi) and Janet Wanjiru, and Hellen Wanjera Kiarie (Aquaclean, Nairobi) and Eng. Mwangi Kiarie (Terms Kenya Limited).

Cousin of Wacuka wa Gitogo, Karuga wa Kamau, Karuga wa Gitogo, the late Millicent Kieme, the late Papetua Muthoni Kariuki, the late Eliud Wambu, Evangeline Wangari Kariuki, and Hon. Ngenye Kariuki, the late Alfred Mwai, Sarah Njoki Gathaara, and Joyce Wambui Kariuki.

Viewing of the body will take place at Montezuma Funeral Home from 8 – 9AM on Thursday 16th October 2025. Thereafter, a funeral service will take place at Deliverance Church International along Langata Road from 10AM and burial at Langata Cemetery grounds from 1PM.

We announce the peaceful passing of Lynette (Elaine) Ruth Walters, born I 7th February 1937, who died in Nairobi on 4th October 2025 after a brief iilness.

Lynette was the founder of Compassion in East Africa and the first Country Director of Compassion International Kenya, where she made a tasting impact on countless children and families. She was also a devoted and serving member of Nairobi Baptist Church and the Bible Society of Kenya.

She leaves behind her sister Rosemary Stevens, her nephew Charles Stevens, nieces Alison Drury and Felicity Wallendszus, great nephews and nieces Guy, Simon, Lottie and Molly in the United Kingdom; and her adopted family in Kenya, Rev. Mutava & Mrs. Nyambura Musyimi, Mueni-Nyokabi Kahumbura, and Dr. Syano Musyimi.

An evening of tributes will be held on Wednesday, 22nd October 2025, at 5:00 pm at Nairobi Baptist Church (NBC), followed by a Memorial Service on Friday, 24th October at 11:00 a.m., also at NBC. Both services will also be live-streamed,

The Almighty God in his divine wisdom called Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Warnbui Warutere to eternal glory on Friday, 10th October 2025 after an enduring illness.

She was the wife of the late Cornelius Warutere Thinwa of Gitunduti village, Magutu Division, Mathira East Sub-county in Nyeri County. Beloved mother of Catherine Wangu (late) & Simon Gicharu, Peter Thinwa & Prof Grace Irimu, Caesar Munene & Rose Gathoni, Jane Kagure (late) & Nelson King’ori, Joseph Mathenge, Charles Kinyua & Anne Mwihaki, Samuel Gachara & Risper Wangechi, Esther Mumbi (late) & Okoth Khaluoch, Rose Kabuchi & Dr. David Kimani, and Agnes Gathoni & Andrew Forbes.

She was the sister of Charles Mathenge, Rosalla Kabuchi, Francis Gachago.Anna Wanjiku (all late), Joseph Muchoki, Joseph Wachira and Isaiah Githara (late).

Funeral arrangements are ongoing at her home in Gitunduti from 4:00 pm daily and in Nairobi, at Cardinal Otunga Plaza, St John Paul Hall on Wednesday, 15th October at 5:30 pm.

A requiem mass to celebrate Mary Wambui’s life will be held at St Austin’s Parish. Msongari, on Thursday, 16th October at 2:00 pm.

Her cortege leaves Aga Khan University Hospital Mortuary on Monday, 20th October 2025 at 7:00 am, for a funeral mass at St Charles Lwanga Catholic Church in Gitunduti at 11:00 am, followed by her interment at her home in Gitunduti the same day.

He was the beloved son of the late Mzee Raphael Wariero Oyoo, and the late Mama Anjelina Wariero, and step son of Mama Preskila Wariero, and Mama Margaret Wariero.

He was devoted husband of Mwalimu Agnes Pwani Ondiek. He was father of George Ochieng (Geez Sports Lounge and Firstmark Solutions Ltd), Hon. Anthony Tom Oluoch (MP Mathare Constituency), Christine Anjela Atieno, Cecilia Akinyi (State Department for Irrigation) Raphael Wariero (NT-IAD) and Sarah Adhiambo (The Edge Life Skills Consultants).

He was son-in-law of the late Joseph Celestine Mariwa Gek and the late Susilia Aomo Gek.

He was a cherished brother of the late Magdalina Odera, the late Wilfrida Aring’o, the late Teresa Aluodo, Hellida Atieno, Esaya Wariero, the late Charles Okoth, William Odhiambo, Vitalis Otieno,William Omondi.

First Cousin of Hon. John Olago Aluoch, Phillip Odeny, Dr. Cyprian Odeny, among others.

He was cousin of Mzee James Oketch Nabi, Mzee Onguto, Wilkister Amollo among others.

He was father in law of Janet Okeyo-Ochieng, Ngala Mwendwa and Evelyne Abisae-Oluoch.

He was Grandfather of Dr. Immanuel Subodh Ochieng (India), Mitchel Ochieng, Immanuel Ochieng, Adrian Oluoch, Antoinette, Ashely, Allan, Koki, Abby, George Mwendwa, Dan, and others. Great grandfather of Dalia, Christine, Msumbe, Solomon , Ewen and Savule.

He was brother in-law of the late Benter Ondiek, Micah Gek, Polycarp Gek, Mary Olima, Monica, Pacifica, Melenia, Maurine, Pauline, Celestine, Susan, Mary, Evalyne, Justice Millicent Odeny, Beatrice, Gladys, among others.

He was uncle of Calleb Okech, Onunga, Benard, Tidah, Felix and others. He was in-law of the late of Mzee George Albert Okeyo Orata and the late Mary Okeyo of Kanyidoto Ndhiwa and of Mzee Jack and Grace Abisae of Nyakach,Wasare.

Family and friends are holding daily meetings and prayers at his home in Kisumu, near St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Kanyakwar.

The cortege leaves Aga Khan Mortuary on Thursday, 16th October 2025, at 12 noon.A requiem mass will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Kanyakwar from 2.30pm, after which the body will be taken to his home for overnight vigil. Burial will take place on Friday, 17th October 2025, officiated by the Rev. Father in-charge St. Paul’s Catholic Church, supported by St. Paul’s Church choir,CMA and CWA. We, the family of the late Justice Fred Andago Ochieng (Court of Appeal) wish to express our profound gratitude for the overwhelming support received following our bereavement. Your prayers, messages, physical presence and material support went a long way in consoling us.

He was the beloved husband of Eva Kanyiri, and a devoted father of Mathew Mutuma Kirimi and Mitchell Kathambi Kirimi.

Gideon was a loving brother of Lewis Gitobu, Allan Gichunge, and Rhodah Mukami.

He was a beloved cousin of Eric Mbaya, Purity Makena, Chris Munene, Kevin Mwenda, Phoebe Munya, Yvonne Kinya, Florence Ntinyari Shanga, among others.
