NTSA has lost its youngest Board Member, and the road safety community a remarkable emerging leader. His calm authority, sharp insight, and unwavering standards helped guide the Board through key reforms. Richie’s legacy lives on in every life saved because he cared deeply and consistently championed safer roads for all.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, 27th November, at 2.00pm at the Karura Community Chapel, off Limuru Road.

The cortege will leave the Lee Funeral Home on Friday, 28th November, at 6.30 am, followed thereafter by the final burial rites at the family home in Nanyuki.

With humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the passing of Mr. Elias Mwakamba Mjomba (EBS, HSC) on 19th November 2025.

Elias was the cherished son of the late Mr. Naftal Mjomba Mafusa and the late Mrs. Evelyn Wabosha. He was son-in-law of the late Mr. Meshack Mng’onda and the late Mrs, Janet Warighe.

He was brother of Geoffrey Mafusa (late), Agnes Nguku, Clemente Mghoi (late), Shadrack Maighacho and Anderson Mwavula (late).

A devoted family man. Elias was a loving husband of Rachael Katty Mwakamba Mjomba, and proud father of Diana Wabosha, Janet Warighe, Elizabeth Samba, Rose Bibi, Agnes Nguku, and Grayson Joshua. He was a doting grandfather of Eli Mwakamba Mjomba, Kieran Valerian Mwabili, Katty Kambua Kaluku, Wabosha Kavata Kaluku, Kacie Warighe Mjomba, and Jude Paul Mwakamba Otieno.

He was a valued in-law of Mrs. Enivah Mafusa, Mr. Cornelius Wangemi Kishika (late), Mrs. Prisca Maighacho (late), and Mrs.Teckla Mwavula.

Elias was a highly respected public servant who dedicated his life to the service of our nation. He retired as Director, Operations Division at the National Security and Intelligence Service (NSIS), where his leadership, integrity, and commitment earned him national honors such as Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS) and Head of State Commendation (HSC). He was also among the founder members of National Association of Retired Police Officers Kenya (NARPOK) – Taita Taveta Chapter. He also served as the former Chairman of TAVEVO Water and Sewerage Company Ltd, where he continued to invest his wisdom and experience in strengthening community institutions. Elias lived a life marked by service, humility, courage, and unwavering love for his family and community. His legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Fellowship meetings are being held daily from 5:00 p.m. at his residence in Transview Estate, Athi River.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, 26th November 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at ACK St Paul’s Church, Athi River.

The cortege will depart from Montezuma Monalisa Machakos on Friday 28th November 2025, for his home in Werugha Location, Wundanyi Sub County, Tait Taveta County. The burial ceremony will take place the following day, Saturday, 29tfi November 2025, at his family home in Werugha

He was brother-in-law of Jane & Mugweru, Muthoni, Gachuhi & Esther, Mwangi & Charity, the late Kigondu & Faith, Bilha & Jackson, and Eva.

He was uncle of Kevin, John, Kairu, Eva, Sam, Njeri Raisa, Njeri Ndeere & Wanjugu, Natasha & Sean, the Mugweru’s, Diana, Gachuhi’s, Mwangi’s, Kigondu’s, Ndirangu’s and Simmo.

He was cousin of Mbari ya Tumbo of Ngecha and Karichu’s of Kabuku.

Meetings will be held on Monday & Wednesday at CITAM Valley Road from 5:30 p.m. and on Tuesday at the family home in Ranger’s Court, South C. Daily meetings are also ongoing at the ancestral home in Komothai.

The cortege leaves Montezuma Funeral Home on Friday, 28th November 2025 for a funeral service at CITAM Valley Road at 10am followed by interment at Lang’ata Cemetery.

He was a beloved husband of Evelyn Onunga, Assistant Director at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). He was a devoted father of Israel Amos Oketch of Viraj International Academy and Laura Akinyi.

He was the son of the late Amos Acklays Akala and the late Merecia Amos

He was a cherished brother of Dr. Akida, Roy, the late Lilian, the late Dinah, Pauline, Abigail, Julia, Jennifer-Jeremiah, Stephen and Felix.

A son in-law of the late Senior Chief James and Margret Onunga. He was an uncle, cousin and friend to many.

There will be a fundraiser on Tuesday 25th ,November, 2025 at All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi at 5pm and a requiem service on ‘Thursday 27th November, 2025 at ACK St. John Church Pumwani at 2pm.

Born in 1947, Mr. Kiiru was son of the late Pharis Kiiru and the late Marion Wanjiku.

He was the loving husband of the late Maria Wanjiku Mwangi. He was a devoted father of Joseph Kung’u, Lucy Wangari, John Kiiru, Paul Muchina, Grace Nyambura, Serah Wambui (Director, Kanini Haraka), Peter Ngujiri, Teresa Wangui, David Kanyi, and Tabitha Njeri (Kanini Haraka).

He was father-in-law of James Ndung’u (Chairman, Kanini Haraka), Amos Njane, David Muchori, Pauline Waiyego, Monica Wangui, Susan Njoki, Ruth Njeri, and Tabitha Wanjeri.

Brother of Phillip Muchina, Francis Kanyi, the late Isaiah Ng’ang’a, Gideon Kimemia, and Mary Wambui.

He was a cherished grandfather of Wanjiku, Macharia, Mwangi, Rachael, Salome, Maria, Miriam, Phylis, Chegejoy, Nyambura, among others; and a beloved great-grandfather of Steve, Ng’ang’a, Ndung’u, Njoki, Muchina, Kung’u, among others.

Friends and family are meeting daily for prayers and funeral arrangements at his home in Kwa Haraka, Kinangop.
