The last born daughter of the late Rufinus Ogutu Nandi and the late mama Dorina Nandi. Sister of Margaret Mulongo, Janepher Omusula, the late Prisca Wafubwa, Christine Mukolwe, Mary Malela, Doris Muchesia, Cecilia Kollum, Patricia Munayi (USA) Rosemary Wafula (DPP), Marcella Nandi (MMUST), Catherine Natembeya and Lucy Olunga (Britam). Her brothers included Prof Jack, John, Steve, Charles, Dismas, Adrianos, Patrick and James Nandi (USA). Sister-in-law of Benard Mulongo, Flab& Omusula, the late George Wafubwa, Hezbon Malela, the late Wycliffe Mukolwe, Jackson Muchesia, Alfise Kollum, Dr Simon Munayi, John Wafula, Hadson Natembeya, Tom Olunga, Clara Bulili, the late Jacquiline Kikechi, Prof Valeria Palapala, Elika Violette, Emily, Susan, Hellen and Teresa.Aunty of Geoffrey, Selina,Andrew, Franco, David, Eugene, Kelvin, Esther (the Netherlands), Velma (USA), Vicky (Canada), Milla (USA), Purity (Canada), Tamasha, and James Junior (USA) among others.

The burial ceremony will be held on Saturday August, 7, at her father’s home in Nabing’eng’e village, Tongaren Sub-County, Bungoma County.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Dr. Robert Kang’ethe Karanja of The Presbyterian University of East Africa (PUEA) on Sunday, 1st March 2020 after a short illness. Dr. Robert Kang’ethe Karanja was the Deputy Vice Chancellor —Academics and Students’ Affairs upto the time of his demise.

Son of the late David Karanja Gathagu and the late Ruth Njeri Karanja. Loving husband of Dr. Edith Wangui Kang’ethe – Lecturer, PUEA. Doting father of Ruth Njeri of South Africa, David Karanja of Amazon Consultancy, Nairobi and Margaret Wanjiru of Royal United Services Institute, Nairobi. Brother of Daniel Mbugua, Mary Njoki Ngigi, Josephac Njuguna, Jecinta Wambui Ng’ang’a, the late Joseph Muhindi Karanja and the late John Kimani.

Family and friends are meeting daily for prayers and burial arrangements at his residence in Kwa Maiko, Githunguri Sub-County in Kiambu County as from 4:00pm.

There will be a memorial service in his honour on Friday, 6″ March 2020 from 10:00am — 2:00pm at The Presbyterian University of East Africa (PUEA) main hall.

The cortege will leave Kenyatta University Funeral home on Tuesday, 10th March 2020 at 9:00am followed by a funeral service at PCEA Ngewa Church beginning 11:00am. The burial will follow thereafter at his home in Kwa Maiko, Githunguri Sub County.

He was blessed with over 91 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.

The cortege leaves HEMA hospital mortuary on Thursday, 12.03.2020. Burial will be on Friday, 13.03.2020 at his home in Taracha village, Birongo Ward, Kisii County.

Beloved daughter of the late Joash Omungo and the late Mama Jerusha Omungo of Masumbi, Alego. Loving wife of the late Helekiah Muga Okello. Daughter-in-law of the late Eliakim Okello Obambo and the late Adah Oyuga.

Mother of Fredrick Muga, Dr B I Omondi Muga, Joshua Muga, Carren Muga, Dr Allan Otieno Muga, George Muga, Dickson Muga and Stephen Muga. Sister of the late Claris, Paulina, the late Mary, the late Grace, Peter and the late Monica. Sister-in-law of Paulina Oluoch, Juanita Anyango, Sarah Ododa, Willam Okelo and Anna Obambo. Mother in law of Carren Awili, Idda Auma, Dr Leah Okiri, Vivienne Atieno, Laurin Anyango and Cyrilla Akinyi. Nyar Alego was warmly blessed with 19 doting grandchildren: Eugene, Edgar, Eddy, Eileen, Shawn, Emmy, Blessing, Bill Clinton, Charles, Wesley, Naomi, Jeremy, Joel, Kyle, Wenwa, Wendo, Marcia, Melanie, and Mich.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at All Saints Cathedral on 10th March 2020 from 12 Noon.

She will be laid to rest on 14 March 2020 at her husband’s farm at Sirandu village, North Gem location, (Kodiaga market), Gem sub county, Siaya.

KCB rugby player Tony Onyango collapses and dies

Kenya Simbas and KCB Rugby Club fullback Tony Onyango is dead.

The 28-year-old Onyango collapsed and died on Tuesday night at around 10pm in his house in Ngong.

He had trained with his club the previous evening in Ruaraka.

KCB Rugby team manager Philip Wamae confirmed the passing on of the player.

“Not such a good morning here… unfortunate loss. The family has just confirmed the sad incident,” said Wamae.

Onyango, a Maseno School alumnus, has played for Kenya across all representative levels starting with Under-19 in 2010 to his Test debut for Kenya Simbas in 2012 when he was brought on board by Michael “Tank” Otieno to his first Test Match against Namibia on June 28, 2014.

Onyango became a favourite of former Kenya Simbas coach Jerome Paarwater and played last for the Simbas against Germany on November 23, 2018 in Marseille, France during the Repechage’s last qualifying for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

He played for Kenya Sevens during the 2014/15 season under Paul Treu.

Onyango first played for Impala Saracens before joining Strathmore University Leos and was part of the squad that reached the 2012/13 Kenya Cup final, losing to Nakuru.

He moved from Leos to Homeboyz before scaling further to KCB Rugby and was part of the bankers Squad that beat Kabras 23-15 in last season’s Kenya Cup final in Kakamega.
