It is with deep sorrow and regret that we announce the death of Mrs. Winfred Adikinyi Machio Onyango, retired teacher at Mathare North Primary School.

Wife of Mr. Lucas Onyango Obaro formerly of Kenya Power. Loving mother of Levis Machio, Irene Adhiambo, Christine Achieng’, the late Raphael Obaro, Leah Atieno and James Otieno. Grandmother of Henry Onyango and Travis Machio. Mother-in-law of Janet Achieng’. Daughter of the late Senator amen Machio and the late Dada Truphosa Norah Machio of Samia. Daughter-in-law of the late Mzee Raphael Obaro and Mama Josephina Obaro. Sister of Patrick Machio, the late Catherine Machio Sudi, the late Lilian Machio, Benson Muswera, Moses Machio, John Machio, Samwel Machio and Steven Machio.

Sister-in-law of Beatrice Machio, Christine Machio, Gladys Machio, Sheba Machio and Rhoda Kagendo. Winfred was an aunty of Sammy, Zach, Rhoda, Amram, Matilda, Edna, Linet,Allan, Edwin, Maureen, Dan, Noel, Michael, Raphael, Gabriel, Tabitha, Norah, William, Josphilia, Truphosa, Dan, Morgan, Marion and Zeddy. Winfred was cousin of the Budohis, Domes, Okungus, Musweras, Erulus, Oumas, Musanyas, Wagabis, Muliagonjas, Masigas, Abayos among others. Special friend of Beatrice Maloba and Teresia Iteri.

Friends and relatives are meeting daily at her residence, Kariobangi South, Civil Servants (House  Number 90).

There will be a fundraising on 1st January, 2020 at her residence from 2.00pm. Contributions can be sent to mobile number 072031 1861.

There will be a requiem mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Dandora Phase 11 on 2nd January, 2020 from 3.00pm.

The cortege leaves for Odengo Village, Ukwala, Ugenya North on 3rd January, 2020 for burial on 4th January 2020 at 10.00am.

Loving husband of Mrs. Anne Nyaguthii Mathenge. Son of the late Mr Muthuita wa Gacuya & Mrs Waruguru Muthuita of Kiaruhiu village, Mathira village, Nyeri County. Son-in-law of the late Mr Francis & Mrs Milkah Munyiri. Beloved father of Michael Muthuita, Catherine Waruguru (US), Patrick Munyiri and Stephen Mundia. Father-in-law of Sheila Munyiri. Grandfather of the late Brandon Mathenge and many others. Caring brother of the late Mundia, Njiriku, the late Kariuki, the late Nyaga, the late Mirigo, the late Gathee, Kamau and Wanjiku. Beloved Brother-in-law of Augustine Machira,Anastasia Muthoni, the late Joe Mwangi, the late Jacinta Wamuyu, the late Shadrack Kihu, Margaret Watetu and Pst. Charity Gathigia. Beloved Uncle and Cousin of many.

Friends and relatives are meeting on Friday, Saturday and Monday at 6:00pm and Sunday at 4:00pm at the family home in Runda Evergreen.

We will meet at Lee Funeral home on Tuesday, 7th January, 2020 at 7:00am and depart at 8:00am. The funeral service will follow from 10:00am at Mathia Catholic Church, Ndia Constituency of Kirinyaga County. The burial will take place on the family farm near Ndima Tea Factory.

Son of the late Cyrus Muchemi and Loise Wangari of Kahigaini village,Tetu Sub-County, Nyeri. Son-in-Law of Bishop William Kavaya and the late Salome Kavaya. Brother of the late Wachiuri, Abigail, Esther, Muriithi, John, Lydia, Alex, Sheila, Linet, Carol, Velma, Pauline & Faith. He was Cousin of Bernard lrungu, James Wachiuri among others and Uncle of Cyrus Muchemi among others.

Meetings for burial preparations are being held daily from Monday 30th December, 2019 at his home in Racecourse Estate, Nakuru, Summerland Hotel Nakuru, Charter Hall – Nairobi and at his rural home in Kahigaini, Nyeri.
