Celestine Awino Rarieya

 (8th June 1945 – 15th July 2025)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Celestine Awino Rarieya on 15th July 2025 while receiving care in the ICU at Aga Khan Hospital. Mombasa.

Beloved wife of the late Leonard Rarieya Asin, and cherished daughter of the late Rufinus and Birgita Afwande of Rang’ala, and daughter-in-law of the late Benedict and 1.2etitia Asin of Sakwa, Bondo.

She was a devoted mother of Jane, Rosemary, Oscar, James, Elizabeth, Fred, Angela, and Maggie Rarieya, and a loving mother-in-law of Sam Omole, Esther Mwaura, Dorcas Obonyo. Doris Ankersmit, Bethseba Okiya, and Andre Thomas.

She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Keith, Shane, Bricigit, Celestine, Jeremy, Sharlene, Silas, Stacey, Samantha, Tatiana. Tamara, and Aviel, and great-grandchildren Samara and Jabari.

Celestine was a beloved sister of Maria, Josephine, Patricia, the late Bernadette, Mary, Hegga, Joseph, and Philip Afuande, and sister-in-law of Elizabeth, Helen, Sylvia, and the late Pius, Peter, Dolphin, Gabriel, and Emmanuel Asir).She was a treasured aunt and friend to many.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated in her honour at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Tudor- Mombasa on 30th August 202S at noon.

The cortege leaves Mombasa on 31st July 2025 for her home in Ngulu Village, Sakwa Bondo.

A second Requiem Mass will be celebrated in her honour at St Andrew’s Catholic Church, Bondo on 1st August 2025 at 2.00 p.m.

A final Requiem Mass will be celebrated on 2nd August 2025 in her home in Ngulu Village, Sakwa Bondo at 1.00 p.m. followed by her burial.
