Charles Ochieng Olilo

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Charles Ochieng Oliloof Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology which occurred on 11th March, 2026 after a short illness at Avenue Hospital, Kisumu.

Charles was the beloved son of Thomas Olilo Oswala and Christabel Amolo Olilo of Gem Kanyikwaya Onyinyore Village, Siaya County.

He was a devoted husband of Emily Anyango and a loving father of Warren Ebbo (Butere Boys), Reeny Achieng (Friends Kaimosi Girls) and Mercy Casidy (St John Mashiakalo School).

Grandson of the late Mzee Amos Oswala and the late Doris Akuku of Gem Kanyikwaya.

He was a dear brother of George Oswala, Janet Akinyi, Judith Oluoch, Evelyne Atieno, Jecinta Sam, Eunice Anyango, Marceline Achieng, Kennedy, Richard, Allan, Joshua, Felix, Irene, Ruth, Dons, Monica, Brenda and Tonny.

Brother-in-law of Sharon Makori, George Nyandare, Kennedy Odhiambo, Mark Owino, Hesbon Ayore, the late Booker Oluoch, Michael Olango, Samuel Oduor, Clerkson Olocho, and Simon Odhiambo, among others.

He was a son-in-law of Mama Rose Nyandare and the late Edward Nyandare of East Kagan, Homabay County.

He was a cherished nephew of Christopher Ondire Oswala, Scholastica Ondire, Maurice Orege Oswala, and Rose Orege both of Gem Kanyikwaya, as well as Meshack Okello of Serve Kakelo. Kisumu County.

The cortege will depart from Kakamega Funeral Parlour on 10th April, 2026 at 8 am for a requiem mass at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. The procession will then proceed to his rural home in South Gem, Onyinyore Village, Siaya County, for an overnight vigil .Interment will take place on 11th April, 2026.
