Dr. Anne Gaudencia Mungai

It is with immense sadness that the Mungai family announces the passing on of our beloved Dr-Anne Gaudencia Mungai of Kenyatta University, HSC, PhD formerly of Kenyatta University Film and Theatre Department on October 23,2025.

She was the daughter of the late Marius & Ursula Okubo of MakundaV illage Budalangi.

Wife of Hon R.K Mungai of Makuyu, mother of Suzie Mungai (USA); Chef Maina & Cess Mungai; Benjamin and Diana Kimuri (Germany) and Joyce Mungai, sibling of Lucia Muckoya, Blasio Okubo, Mary Asiba, George Okubo, the late Gerald, Sylvanusjohn, Nicolas, Rosana. Joseph, Peter Ferdinand Okubos and Regina Ofulah among others.

She was a cherished grandmother of the late Nia Maina, Imani, Ethan, Kayla, Theo and Simone.

A pioneer in Kenya’s film industry who produced the films Soikati, Usitie Mtoto wa Afrika and Wekesa at Crossroads. She was also the Founder of Shangilia Mtoto wa Africa.

The requiem mass will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kileleshwa on November 5, 2025 at 2:30pm.

Cortege departs from Kenyatta University Referral Funeral Home at 8.00am. The funeral service will be held at Kihara Primary School Ndara farm Makuyu on November 7, 2025 at 10.00am.

Friends and relatives are meeting daffy at her home in Kileleshwa Oloitoktok Court.
