We announce the promotion to glory of Dr. Lawrence Mwangi Karanja, that took place on 4th of February 2021, after a short illness.

A Lecturer and former Chairman of CONES at JKUAT. He was the pioneer Chairman of the Department of Clinical Medicine in various Universities & Colleges. He was very instrumental in the establishment of the Jomo Kenyatta University Clinical Medicine Association, the first of its kind in Kenya.

Son of the late Karanja Njaguara and the late Teresia Wangechi (Wa Kiburi). Loving husband of Jane Wanjiru Mwangi, former Principal Kinungi Secondary School, Deputy Principal at Flamingo Secondary School – Nakuru and a Teacher at Nakuru High School, among others. Doting father of Sian Wangechi, Diana Nyakonyu, Kelvin Wanjohi, Joseph Kamau, Dominic Kimani, Joan Wakiini and Lewis Karanja. Father-in-law of Andrew Kariuki, Sande Mwarema and Eunice Wanjohi. Brother of the late Wakiini, the late Murimi, Muriuki (Kaka), Karani, Purko, Susan Wamirichu, the late Isaac Ruriga, Mary Wambui and Paul Ngare. Step-brother of the late Gatimu Karanja and the late Kareithi Karanja.An Uncle to many. Grandfather to Valentine Wanjir,. Isaac Ruriga, Arthur Mwarema, Neema Wanjiru, Levi Mwangi and Asaph Thuo.

The cortege will leave Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary, on Thursday 11th February, for burial at Eor Enkitok village in Narok on the same day.

Daily Meetings are ongoing at his home in Naka, Nakuru and in Nairobi.

A memorial service will be held at JKUAT main campus in Juja, on Wednesday at 3.00pm.
