It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we,The Getiro family, announce the passing of Mr. Duke Cornelius Mcgaka Omariba, which occurred on 11th November 2025 at Nairobi Hospital after a short illness. The late Mr. Mogaka was a dedicated Research Administrator-Managing and coordinating the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research-Africa (WRAIR-A)’s Department of Emerging Infectious Diseases (DEID) sentinel sites, where he served with diligence and commitment.
Son of the late James Omariba, the late Monica Nyaboe, Tabitha and Joyce Omariba.
He was a loving husband of Anne Mogaka, and a devoted father of Dr. Brenda Mogaka (Nairobi City County), Victoria Mogaka, Valarie Mogaka, Brian Mogaka and Hailey Mogaka. He was a cherished grandfather of Liam, Shani, Taji, Scott, and Delainey and many more. Father in-law of Joab Omolo and Korera of The Opado family.
Son In-law of the late Darius and Paustina Bongwe.
Brother of Agnes Nyambati, the late Charles, the late Espon, Tom, Flora, Isabela, Gladys, Shadrack, the the late Orina, Nyabonyi, Eric, Lorna, Ogoso, Diana, Timothy, Violet, Edwin and Swaleh. Cousin and uncle to many in the Getiro and Mong’are family.
The body is at Aga Khan Hospital Mortuary, Kisumu, and will leave on Thursday, 20th November 2025. The burial will take place on Friday, 21st November 2025 at his home in Mecheo/Keginga., Nyansiongo, Borabu, Nyamira County.
Daily gatherings at his homes in Nyamasaria, Kisumu and Mecheo for prayers and support.
There will be a fundraising today Tuesday 18th November, 2025 at his home in Nyamasaria., Kisumu from 2 p.m. All are welcome.
