Jane Wanjiru Karuga, lovingly known as Mama Cheche, transitioned to be with her Lord, on November 11, 2025, at the age of 66. Born in 1959, she leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion to her family.
Mama Cheche was a devoted wife of the late John Karuga Kamau, Co-wife of the late Veronica Nyambura and Grace Wanjiru and a loving mother to their children: Anne, Paul, Phyllis, Triza, Paul (jnr), Mary, the late Cheche, Emily, Antonio, Peter, Mike, Ben, Serah, Njenga, Kienjeku, the late Dan, Esther, Ken, and Winnie. She is also survived by 52 grandchildren, to whom she was affectionately known as “Shosh.”
As a daughter, Mama Cheche cherished her parents, the late Erastus Gacheche the Late Veronica Njeri (Wa Kihanya), and the Late Tabitha Mumbi (Wa Kariithi). She also leaves behind a large extended family, including her siblings, the late Ndichu,Waniiku, Wairimu, Kihanya, Kimende, Njoki, Nyambura, and Wangari; also her Brothers and Sisters born of her Mother, Mumbi as well as her in-laws the Kahuthus, and her cousins, the Kihanyas and Kamaus.
Funeral Arrangements: – Daily meetings are being held at her home in Bungoma, Site and Services Estate Bungoma Town. From 7pm. –
Cortege leaves LifeCare Funeral Home Bungoma on Friday 21st Nov 2025. For night Vigil at her Rural home Likuyani-Soy. Burial takes place Saturday, November 22, 2025, at her Rural Home in Likuyani-Soy .The family invites friends, relatives, and well-wishers to join them in celebrating Mama Cheche’s life and mourning her passing.
