With the acceptance of God’s Willi, we sadly announce the death of retired education officer Mrs Magdalene Okoth on 27th August 2025.

Wife of the late Major Joseph Okoth.

Daughter of the late Joseph Openda and Monica Aoko Openda (Nyar Otiang’) of Dudi Village, Kisa West, Kakamega County.

Daughter in-law of Cosmas Okoth and Celestine Awino of Ukalama Village, Tingare, Ugenya, Siaya County.

Mother of Dr Nicholas Okumu of Kenyatta National Hospital and Dr Radhia Okumu of Jasmine Dental and Medical Centre, Silvanus Oluoch Lule (UN, Netherlands), Winnie Okumu (late) and Mike Otieno Okumu.

Sister of Torn Ong’are, Tina Openda (late), Josephine Ouma (late), Francis Openda, Caroline Openda, Frederick Openda, Veronica Openda, Lucas Ong’are, Nicholas Openda and Florence Openda.

Sister in-law of Peter Okoth, Gerald Okoth, Philipine Achieng, and Consolata Agutu.

Grandmother of Jonathan, Joshua, Wisley and Hanni.

In-law of the late Mdeng’o and the late Fatma Godigodi of Dar-es-Salaam Tanzania.

Funeral service will be held at Citam Valley Road on Thursday, September 4th at 10.00am, and burial on Saturday, September 6th at Ukalama Village, Ting’are, Ugenya, Siaya County.

Friends and relatives are meeting daily at All Saints Cathedral Trinity Wing from 5:00pm – 8.00pm. Harambee is on Wednesday (today) 5.00pm at the same venue.
