Mama Margaret Lana Awuor Wandolo Oguna

22nd March, 1942 – 6th February, 2026

It is with great sorrow and humble acceptance that we announce the death of Mama Margaret Wandolo Oguna of Nyamninia Village,Yala Subdivision, Siaya County.

She was the wife of the late Mace Nehemiah Oguna Okello.

She was daughter of the late Mzee Jonathan Ombiro Wandolo, the late Mama Truphena Oyamo Wandolo and the late Berin Wanjiru Wandolo of RawaloVillage, Siaya County, Kenya. She was daughter-in-law of the late Mace Jeremiah Okeio Oneya and the late Mama Janet Odera Okelo.

She is mother of Jackton David Oneya (Kenya), Dr. George Francis Owino Oguna (Kenya), Winnie Atieno Oguna Mugweh (USA), the late Dickson Henry Ochieng Oguna, Dr. Mary Judy Ajode Oguna-Maina (Kenya) and Tr. Janet Lorraine Odera Ochieng (Canada). She is mother-in-law of Peres Akoth Oneya, the late Joyce 0guna, Martha Gitau Oguna, John James Mugweh, Alexander Maina Karuga and the late Evans Ochieng Opondo.

She was grandmother of Grace Oneya, Janet Oneya & Stephen Ochieng’, Trevor Oneya, Christian Oneya, Tamara Oguna, Valentine Oguna, Jeremy Oguna. Ruth Oguna,Teddy Mugweh, Otyvia Mugweh, Johnathan Mugweh, Advocate Emmanuella W. Maina, Joshua Ochieng, Joy Ochieng and great grandmother of Joyce Kassana and Gianna Ochieng’.

She was a loving and cherished aunty and grandmother to all her numerous nephews and nieces of the families of Helida Ochieng, Alice Otieno, Walter Ombiro, Jennifer Achwal, Florence Feigiona Akinyi, Omwanda Wandolo, George Odalo, Joseph Onyango, David Okoth, Pamela Siangla and Moses Wasonga as well Eisiba Ogonji, Rhoda Ndende, Zedekiah Omoro, Phelgona Oyuga, Jane Oneya, Nahashon Ooko, John & Wilkister Anyango, Willis Obare and Joan Odeny.

The funeral cortege will leave Yala Morgue on Friday, February 20, 2026 for a church service at St: Marys ACK Church, Nyamninia at 1:30 pm and thereafter an overnight stay at her ancestral home in Nyamninia village at the Oguna Homestead. Burial will be held on Saturday, February 21st, 2026 at the Homestead, starting at 9:30 am. The funeral colours are black with a dash of red.
