Martha Khasandi Wanjala

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing on of Retired Principal Martha Khasandi Wanjala, after a long battle with breast cancer.

Daughter of the late Elijah Mmbasu and the late Rasoa Masitsa and daughter in-law of the late Hailam Mukonyi and the late Mangrita Nasiche.

Wife of Dr Philip Mukonyi (MMUST). She was loving mother of Raphael Chisika (Dr Daniel Wako Murende TVC), Lilian Temba, Fred Mukonyi (Brick Security), Victor Tawai, Alvin Mukonyi (Ongwenyi Mirieri & Company Advocates), Faith Masitsa (Senior Counsel CL/ADR – Nairobi City County), and Joy Nasiche (KeMU). Mother in-law of Brian, Lancy, and Elizabeth.

Sister of the late Seline Mukasia. Jerridah Mwenje,the late Mayuba Mmbasu, the late Francis Okata, Margaret Nashimiyu, Johnston Okwiri, Sarah Muronji, the late Dorcas Naliaka, the late Lukania Mmbasu, Enock Wachiya, John Chisika, Jacob Shirandula, and Mathews Avomba.

Sister in-law of Joseph, Grace, Johnston, Lydia, Seraphine, Robert, Joyce, the late Rabson, the late Okiya, Wycliffe, Karanja, Nyongesa, Stephen, Khasoa, Florence, Peninah, lmmax, Neddy, Rashid and Nangami.

Aunt of Jacob, Mary, Mercy, Becky, Sussy,Werangai, Sheila, Salome, Luke, Pascal, Junior, Derrick, Walter, Faith, Innocent, Mercy.Vincent, Beryl, Dinah, Esther, Peter, Enes, Monica, Moi, Rose, Sarah, Kevin, Bonface, Joy and Ruth, Wayne and Jayson.

Grandmother of Mitchell, Randall, Pharel, Dansel, and Delvine.

Family members are meeting daily at her homes in Matete, Kakamega County and Barbton,Trans Nzoia County from 3pm.

There will be a harambee at Philma Academy Matete on Wednesday 19/11/2025 from 2pm.

The cortege leaves Village of Hope Funeral Home, Musembe on Thursday, 20/11/2025 for an overnight stay at her Matete home, Kakamega County. There will be a brief service at Philma Academy Matete grounds on Friday 21/11/2025 at 9am before the cortege leaves for in Ingavi farm, Barbton, Kiminini Constituency. Burial will take place at Ingavi farm, on Saturday 22/11/2025 at 9am led by African Israel Nineveh Church.
