Mwalimu Alice Magoma Mogire

It is deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Retired teacher Madam Alice Magoma Mogire (Teacher Alice) formerly of Gekomu Primary School, which occurred on the 23 of January 2026.

Daughter of the late Chief Dominic Nyang’ute and the late Mama Christina Kerubo. She was a daughter in-law of the late George Obungu, the late Mama Hellena Moraa and Prisca Obungu.

She was a loving wife of Zablon Mogire Obungu (Mozamad), a devoted mother of Edna (I&M Bank), Lilian (Airtel, Kenya). Grace (JOOUST), Gladys (Mozamad) and Rachel (Absa). Mother-in-law of James, Wycliffe, Moses and Dennis. Grandmother of Nathan, Kayla, AL, Emmanuella, Avi, Kirsten, Alicia, Jasiri, Jasmine and Miguel.

She was a sister of the late Charles Barongo, the late Pascalia, Samuel Nyabwanga, Marcela Mang`are, and the late Peter Oigara.

Sister-in-law of Moranga, Jomo, Evans, Douglas, Tom and the Obungus, Jerusha, the late Ombasa, the late Mang’are, the late Mary, the late Georgina and the late Anne.

Aunt of Fred Mogaka (Chief Principal-Kisii School), Bruno, Omosa, Robina(Canada), Rebecca, George, Dominic, Felisters, the late Robina, Verah, Silas (DJ Cross), Beatrice, Danvas among others.

Korera of the late Charles Rota and Rhoda Charles, Robert and Grace Okari, David and Faith Muriungi, and James and Teresa Omariba.

Niece of Maragia Serembe, Daniel Ondabu, Peter Serembee, the late James Onuong’a, Ruth, the late Teresia, the late Joyce, Rebecca, Drusilla, Nyachama, Kwamboka, Catherine Mose, Mary Mocota and others.

Requiem Mass will be held on Thursday 29th January 2026 from 1.00pm at The St. Charles Lwanga Cathedral Church, Kisii.

The cortege will leave Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital on 30th January 2026 at 7:00 a.m. followed by a fInal celebration service at Gusii Stadium and thereafter interment at her Gekomu home.
