Mwalimu Hannington Odamna

With deep sorrow and in acceptance of God’s will, the family of the late Mwalimu Hannington Odamna announces the demise of their Father Mwalimu Hannington Odamna which occurred on the 17th of April 2025.

Son of the late Mary Guya Omollo and the late John Omollo.

Husband of Lucy Aloo Odamna, and father to Lucas John Omollo, HSC, Salome Adhiambo, Hellen Atieno, Emilly Anyango, Pheobe Achieng’ and Anne Awino.

Firstborn in a family of eight children, three of whom passed away at a young age. His surviving siblings are Margaret Akinyi, Florence Wasonga Odera, Alice Apondi, and Debora Odera.

Cousin of Edwina Anyango, Ruth Awuor, Agneta Okota, the late George Okoth, the late Barack Odamna, Pamela Awino, Roseline Odera, Eunice Adhiambo, Josiah Odamna, and Siprose Akello, among others.

Uncle of William Okoth, Sospeter Oduor, Caroline Auma, Consolata Amollo, Boniface Oduor, Kenneth Omondi, Geoffrey Odhiambo, Boniface Oduor Odera, Eunice Anyango, Grace Akinyi, Merab Atieno, and Julius Nyerere.

Nephew to the late Shem Okingli, Jeckonia Otieno, Martin Obiero, Isaac Odamna, the late Truphena Ombonya,Adda Opiyo, Lucia Agwingi, and others.

Beloved son-in-law of the late George Olayo, Hellena Olayo, and the late Kalara Olayo. Brother-in-law of Sarah Akinyi, Francis Olayo, Josiah Olayo, the late Nobert Omondi Olayo, Leah Atieno, Dr. Bernard Olayo, Rose Awino, Felix Juma Olayo, Margaret Aketch, David Olayo, Yuanita Ochieng, the late Wilkister Okwaro, the late James Awendo, Nereah Okongo, Norah Atieno, among others.

Proud grandfather of Brydon Ochieng, Lucas Omondi, Ellah Rena Omollo, Luce Rania Omollo, Prince Lucas Omollo, Lucas George Magero and Eliana Omollo.

Daily meetings are being held in Gongo Village, Gem Constituency, Siaya County.

The cortege will depart from Kwee Funeral Home (Kisumu) on Thursday 1st May 2025 for a night vigil at his home. Burial will take place at his Gongo home on 2nd May 2025 at 10.00am.
