Appreciation

Sunrise: 1917 – Sunset: 2017

We, the family of the late Joseph Daniel Otiende, thank the Almighty God for the gift of Mzee, and for His Grace throughout the period of his illness and demise. We also wish to extend our sincere appreciation to friends, colleagues and extended family for standing with us during his illness and supporting us to give Mzee a befitting send-off. Special thanks go to His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, for the comforting message and support to the family.

We also thank the Head of the Public Service, Mr Joseph Kinyua, the Principal Secretary of Interior, Dr Karanja Kibicho, and the Vihiga County Commissioner. Our special thanks also go to former Prime Minister, Hon. Raila Odinga, and former Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon Kenneth Marende, who were the first dignitaries to visit Mzee in hospital, and for their support to the family. Our sincere appreciation to Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, Hon. Moses Wetang’ula, Hon. George Khaniri, Hon. Bonny Khalwale, Hon. Yusuf Chanzu, who not only visited Mzee in hospital, but also supported the funeral committees.

We also thank Vihiga Governor Moses Akaranga and his officers for standing with the family during Mzee’s illness and throughout the funeral period. Special gratitude to the PS, State Department of Livestock, Dr Andrew Tuimur, and colleagues from the Ministry. To Mzee’s steadfast comrades in the Luhya Council of Elders, who stood with him throughout his illness and supported the family following his demise, goes our deep appreciation.

Our sincere gratitude also goes to the Friends Church, especially at Kegoye and Luduguyu; the Principal, staff and students of Kegoye Secondary School; and the entire Kegoye community. We were tremendously touched by the Alliance Old Boys’ Association, and the school choir and band, who traveled all the way to give their ‘old boy’ and teacher a befitting farewell. Thank you too, to the Members of Parliament who supported the family in cash and kind, as well as the Former Parliamentarians Association.

May the Lord uphold you and comfort you in your hour of need. To the doctors and medical staff who attended to Mzee, your work was not in vain. Special thanks to the Wasanji and in-laws from Viyalo, Kisatiru, Kitale, Kabras, Meru, and Bushiangala.

We also thank Mzee’s in-laws, who came on behalf of the Ganiras, Akatsas, M’bwayas, Otungas, Ashibendes, Mwanjes and Bulibas. Special thanks to the two funeral committees in Nairobi and Kegoye and their two chairmen, and Hon. Andrew Ligale for his outstanding role during the funeral.

Finally, special thanks to Mzee’s grandchildren and their colleagues and friends, who worked late into the night to set up the venue, and attended the guests.

To all those who stood with us, and whom we are unable to thank individually, kindly accept our profound gratitude.

 

 

We regret to announce the sudden death of Gideon Mwanthi Nguyo.

Son of Peter Nguyo Mutisya & Eva Nzula Nguyo. Husband of Zipporah Mwanthi. Father of Kelvin, Martin, Solomon, Donly and Jeminah. Brother of the late Martin Nguyo, Wanzilu, Kasese and Mbaika, Syokau, Charles and Wandia. Cousin of Joe Nzioka of Nzioka and Company Advocates among others.

Friends and family members are meeting daily at Montana Restaurant Kangundo from 5.30pm for burial arrangements.

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on to glory of Crispus Wachira Gitehi of Kianjogu Village, Nyeri County which occurred on 9^th April 2017 at the Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi.

Son of the late Martin Gitehi and the late Joyce Waguthi. Step son of Eudia Wandia Gitehi.

Loving husband of Nyambura Rose Wachira. Adoring father of Karite Wachira. Brother of late Mahinda, late Muthoni, Nyakirima Kabui, Wanjigi, Gathinji, Njuma, Gachonde, Wanjao, Wangari, Wanja, Wanjohi and Wangui.

Grandfather of Wachira, Nyathira, Rose, Kylah, Kinyanjui, Muhia, Ciru and many more. Uncle of the Martins, Waguthis and Wandias.

Friends and relatives are meeting today (12^th April 2017), Thursday (13^th April 2017), Tuesday (18^th April 2017) and Wednesday (19^th April 2017) at PCEA St Andrews Church Nairobi at 5pm for burial arrangements at Kianjogu home.

The cortege leaves Tumutumu hospital mortuary on Thursday 20^th April 2017 at 9am for burial at Gitehi’s family home, Kianjogu.

Son of the late Raphael Mukua Njau and the late Magdaline Wanjiku Mukua (Nyathingira).

Loving husband of Cecilia Mwende Njau. Brother of the late Gitau, Gakahu, the late Wambui, Wanjiru, the late Njeri, Waceke and Wacuka.

Doting father of Regina Wanjiku (Nbi), Bernard Muchai (UK), Godwin Ndichu (Nakuru), Samuel Gitau (Nbi), the late Mary Nduta, Julius Chaga (Pekay Bros), James Mathu (Blue Post), Simon Mbugua (Ruiru), Ng’ang’a Njau (Bremar Ltd), Lydia Wairimu (Githunguri), Cosmas Ngunyi (Nakuru), Nelly Wanjiru (Juja Preparatory), Joan Wambui (Msa), Bibian Waringa (Thika) and the late Lucas Githinji. Grandfather and great grandfather of many. Loving father-in-law of his daughters and sons in love.

Friends and family are meeting daily from 4pm at his residence in Karla village, Lioki location to plan for his burial.

There will be a one off meeting at Coconut Grill Thika on Thursday 13th April at 7pm.

The cortege leaves Kenyatta University Mortuary on Tuesday 18th April at 8am for a funeral service at Githare-ini Catholic Church Karia and burial will follow thereafter at his home in Karia village.
