1953-2015

The late Margaret Akinyi Owino or Nyalego as we fondly called her was born on 22nd August 1953 in Imbanya Village Alego Kaluo in Siaya County. She was the first born in a family of 14 (6 sons and 8 daughters) of the late Mzee Aloice Omondi and the late Wilfrida Apondi.The late Margaret started her education at Mbaga Mixed Primary School in Siaya County and Nyabondo Girls. She later joined Makerere University, Jinja campus and graduated with a diploma in secretarial. The late Margaret worked with several companies both in Jinja and Nairobi before joining Posta and later Telkom Kenya where she worked until her early retirement in 2007. She met and married her beloved husband Erastus Owino Kungu in Jinja, Uganda in 1971. They were blessed with four children namely, Millicent Achieng, the late Maureen Adongo, Humphrey Okello and Jacob Catwright. She lived to see her grandchildren namely Brandy, Andy, Patrick, Shanice and Kimberly.
She was doting mother to Stephen Ochieng, Josephine Aluoch, Victoria Anyango, Yvonne Awuor, Violet Awino, Vivian Auma, Mercy Atieno among others. She was a doting grandma to Junior Erastus, Emmanuel, Angel, Marcus-wills, Mackay, Manuel, Cindy, Sonia, Erastus John and Wendy. Margaret was born in a staunch catholic family. After her marriage she was converted to seventh day Adventist church. She was baptized at Kariobangi SDA church then moved membership to Jericho SDA church and later after her retirement to Odienya SDA church in 2008. In Kariobangi and Jericho, she participated in various capacities like Deaconess, youth and family counselor, Matron of church weddings and an active choir member. In Odienya SDA Church (2009) she was elected Sabbath school superintendent and served for two years. In 2010 she was elected as the first elder and served for two years. From 2011 she served as church Treasurer until her demise. She worked tirelessly and put in a lot of efforts in stewardship and placed the church at the peak. Margaret was ambitious and a procedural leader, through her efforts, she organized a funds drive in aid of campsite, church repairs and building the guest’s house, she served as Choir director and motivated members to achieve many goals. She was elected as secretary for women ministry within Olare block. Mama Margaret was in good health until the morning of 8th October 2015 when she complained of severe headache and neck stiffness.She sought medical attention at Afya Medical Center, Homabay where a physician made an impression of Meningitis infection hence her admission in the hospital. On the 9th of October, she was transferred to Agakhan hospital, Kisumu. At the Agakhan hospital she continued with treatment for meningitis and upon doing several investigations a diagnosis of Tetanus infection was made. On the 13th of October she was taken to ICU due to her deteriorating condition and went to be with the lord at 5pm on 14th October 2015.

1932-2015

Michael was was born in July 1932 in Luanda K’Agina to Obadiah Oloo and Christine Okiya Oloo, both now deceased. He was the 2nd born and brother to Okinyo (deceased), Hilda Aketch, Adhiambo (deceased) Josephine Opiyo, Abyshaggy Oloo, Joseph Otieno (deceased) and Evans Oloo (deceased).

Michael attended Luanda Intermediate School where he did his KAPE and after passing proceeded to Onjiko Secondary School before proceeding to Uganda where he completed his schooling. Very early in his youth Michael was a keen musician and played with the late Horace Obiero’s Lang Obiero Band which was a popular live Brand at the time that went on to make some recordings.

Michael proceeded to relocate to Nairobi as part of the early urban migration and first got employed by British American Tobacco (BAT) in Likoni Road Nairobi.  It is here, he met Elizabeth Waithera his first wife and with who they had 5 children, namely Jim, Susan, Joyce, Catherine and Adah. Michael married his second wife Mary Adhiambo in 1968 and they had two children, Edward and Belinda. He is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as many grandchildren.

1915-2015

John Mark Leteipan was born on 20th November 1915 at Siyiapei, Narok, Rift Valley to an A.I.C Evangelist father, the late Samuel Samoire and Christian mother, Mariamu Leteipan. John Mark was the second born child of Samuel and Mariamu. He had five siblings: David Mutii, Ruth Koikai, Charles Leteipan and Mary Leteipan. They were a very humble family. John Mark’s early determination and love for education can be traced back to the AIC Missionaries, who settled at Siyiapei, Narok, and later relocated to Ole Kijabe.

2003 – 2015

Lavenda Asino Wasonga was born on 11th November 2003 at Marie Stop clinic Eastleigh and died on 26th January 2015.

EDUCATION
She started her Education at Fadhili Junior School and later went to Nairobi South Primary in class five, before finally joining Whitestar Academy in class six where she died.

SICKNESS
5Th September 2008 she was diagnosed with a heart problem and was taken to India on 10th November where she had a heart surgery performed successfuly. On the day of her death Lavenda
Asino woke up normal and talked to her Mother who signed her diary before going to board the school bus. She attended all morning classes and went for lunch after which she went back for
afternoon classes. She collapsed in the middle of afternoon classes and was rushed to Nairobi West hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

1943 — 2015

The late Elkana Omutho Oloo was born in 1943, at Kawadhgone location, Kibiri ward. He was the second born child of mzee Philip Oloo and mama Silpa Odhiambo. He was a brother to the late Daniel Bungu and Ann Opapa.

EDUCATION
He attended Kandiege primary school upto class 3 then later joined Omboga primary school where he did his class 4 upto class 8 but repeated his KAPE at Ofwanga primary school. He joined Kanyamfwa secondary school where he did his form 1 and 2 then joined Nyabondo secondary school where he did his form 4, East Africa certificate of education(EACE).

WORK
Mzee became a teacher at Lwaho primary then later on worked with OTC in Nairobi. He also worked with the ministry of education as education officer until he retired in 1994.

MARIAGE
He got married to mama Magrate Adoyo in 1972. They were blessed with 8 children, the late Grace Akech, the late Janet Akoth, Calvince, Modock, Lydia, Phoebe, Denice and lastly Declerk.

CHRISTIAN LIFE
Mzee Elkana joined Seventh Day Adventist church and was baptized in 1961 by pastor Mika Mitoko. He was a staunch dedicated God fearing man. His name Elkana depicted the character of biblical Elkana who was always there to assist anyone in need in whatever way he could in a responsible and an micable manner.Many believed he was a heaven sent and his family members concure with this.His traits were unique to individuals. He was generous, kind, compassionate and enjoyed sharing whatever he had

1957 – 2016

FORMATIVE YEARS
The late Peres Adera Osodo or Nyasimbi as we fondly called was born on 10th October 1957 in Karachuonyo, Homabay County. She was the first born in a family of 8 children of the late Senior Chatechist of the Catholic Church mzee Mathews Odingo Okwach and the late mama Christina Okoth Odingo. Her brothers and sisters were the late Dorina Ojuka, the late Anna A. Odongo,
Silvanus Okwach Odingo, Jenipher Oguta, the late Edward Ochieng,’ the late Maureen Omondi Odingo and Michael Ouma Odingo.
EDUCATION
The late Peres Adera Osodo attended Asumbi and Simbi Primary Schools’.
FAMILY LIFE
The late Peres Adera Osodo met and married her beloved husband the late James Adera Osodo in 1980. They were blessed with 4 children namely Fredrick Osodo, Tolbert Osodo, Nzike Osodo and Nzamo Osodo. Her co wives were Erca Osodo and Emma Osodo. Her daughter and sons in law are Scholarstica odondi, Nick Ogada and Jacob Ochieng’. She lived to see her grandchildren namely James Osodo, Biden Osodo, Xian Helida and Jayson Ochieng. She was a doting mother to Werner Osodo, the late Marvin Osodo,Sheila Osodo, George Osodo, Michael Osodo and Valerie Osodo.
CHRISTIAN LIFE
Being the daughter of a catechist, the late Peres was astaunch catholic.
