Prof. Paul Njenga Mbugua

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Prof. Paul Njenga Mbugua, formerly of the University of Nairobi, Upper Kabete Campus, on the 1st of April 2026, after a lifetime of love, excellence and servitude.

Prof. Njenga was the beloved son of the late Simon Mbugua Njoroge and the late Veronica Mugure.

He was the dear husband of Hannah Waithira Njenga; father of Mugure Njenga; Mbugua Njenga, Wanjiku Njenga and Philip Kyalo. Proud grandfather of Alex Njenga and Mutete Kyalo.

He was a brother of the late Mary Kabura Kimani, the late Elizabeth Wanjiku Wakiri, the late Andrew Njoroge Mbugua, the late Francis Mungai, Robert Gakuru, Kennedy Thagicu and Stephen Njogu. He was the stepbrother of the late Mwalimu Peter Njoroge, the late John lbae, the late Veronica Wanjiru Luka, and the late David Muniu.

He was brother-in-law of Grace Njeri, Charles Ngatha,Alice Nduta, the late Stephen Wahinya, Edith Wambui, the late Rose Wangari, and Kimiri Mwaura. He was a loving uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather of many.

The cortege leaves KU Referral Funeral Home on 9th April 2026 at 9am to St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Thome for mass at 10am. Thereafter, the interment will be held at their family home in Ndeiya, Limuru, Kiambu County.
