Richard Chesilim Kiprotich Chepkwony (Mzee Sanik)
It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Richard Chesilim Kiprotich Chepkwony (Mzee Sanik), which occurred on Sunday 27th July 2025 at The Nairobi Hospital.
Born in 1938 in Kapsaos, Kapsaos Ward, Ainamoi Sub-County, Kericho County, the late Richard was a beloved son of the late Mosonik Chepkwony Arap Leitich and the late Tapramgoi Leitich, stepson of Taplelei and Tabuson. Son-in-law of Kipngerechi Arap Chebos and Recho Taputanuy Chebos.
He was a loving husband of Susana Chemutai Chepkwony. Father of Henry (Taiwet Tea Factory), the late George, Clara (Sotik) and Lynette (USA).
Brother of the late Taprandich, the late Cheres `Muranga’, John Chepkwony (Kelji-Uasin Gishu), Josphat Sigilai (Eldoret), the late John Chepkwony (Momoniat), Rusi Masit, Raeli Mosonik, Cabot James, Esther Mosonik, Esther Lelei, the late Bernard Chepkwony, Daniel Barno, the late Jimmy Towett, the late Nelson Chepkwony, Sammy Chepkwony (Motiryot), Caroline Chepkemoi and Pastor Emily Bett. Great-grandfather of Kipletyen Kiprotich.
Friends and Family are meeting daily at his home in Tugunon, Kapteigo and AGC Emmanuel Church Hall – Kericho for prayers and funeral arrangements.
There will be a fund raising at 5.30pm on Saturday 9th August 2025 at AGC Emmanuel Church – Kericho and another one on Sunday 10th August 2025 at home in Tugunon Farm, Kapteigo.
The cortege leaves Lee Funeral Home Nairobi on Wednesday 13th August 2025 followed by a service at Kapteigo AGC Church. The funeral service will be done on Thursday 14th August 2025 at Kaboloin Primary School. He will be laid to rest at his home in his Tugunon farm, Kapteigo.
