Andrew Watakila

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear son and brother, Andrew Watakila, who was born on June 26th, 1966 and was called home on Sunday January 19th, 2020.

Son of the late Ayub Nakhisa Watakila and Robai Khamala Nakhisa. He was the brother of James Soita Watakila, Ruth Watakila (Jackson), Helen Watakila and Jackie Watakila. Uncle of Dafina Ngei and Jasmine Jackson and brother in law of Nero Jackson, of whom he is survived, together with a family of cousins, nieces and nephews who fiercely loved him — aunts, uncles and friends.

Andrew attended Karen “C” Primary School, Upper Hill Boys High School and Kangaru High School. He was a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University with a BS in Computer Science. He worked for Cone Mills for over 25 years with his last position being Computer Systems Manager.

Family and friends are meeting at the family home at House No. 15, Ngei Estate, Phase I, Langata for prayers from 6pm to 8pm daily.

A Service will be held at Saint Barnabas Anglican Church in Langata Nairobi, on Friday, February 1st, at 2.00pm following which Andrew will be laid to rest at his family home in Webuye on Monday, February 3rd 2020.

It is with humility and acceptance of God’s will that we announce the promotion to glory of Alice Wairimu Kigondu of Njiku-Muthurwa, Kiambaa, K iainbu County on the 25th January 2020 after a long illness bravely borne.

Loving wife of the Late Leonard Kigondu Wainaina. Mother of Rosemary Kigondu (formerly of Aga Khan Hospital), Peter Wainaina Kigondu (CBK), Lawrence Kigondu (UoN), Rev. Nellie Nyakanini Njoroge (CITAM), John Kigondu (Botswana) and Dr. Elizabeth Mumbi Kigondu-Mwinzi (KEMRI). Mother-in-law of Rosemary Wainaina, the Late Beatrice Mungai, Charles Njoroge, Mary Njoroge and Michael Mwinzi. She was the daughter of the Late Wallace Mungai and the Late Madeleine Nyakanini Mungai, daughter-in-law of the Late Peter Wainaina Gathigi and the Late Rosemary Wambui Wainaina. Sister of Douglas Kamau, Racheal Wanjiru Gichuru, David Kamau, the Late Margaret Njeri, Mary Wambui and Agnes Ngina. Grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and a mentor to many.

The cortege will leave Kenyatta University Funeral Home on Friday 31st January 2020 at 8.00am for the funeral service at ACK St. Lukes Muthurwa-Nliku at 11.00am and thereafter her burial at her home in Njiku.

Friends and relatives are meeting at her home in Njiku.

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of Mr. Zacharia Nyaribo Ratemo, which occurred on the night of Thursday, 16th January 2020 on Thika-Garissa Road near Matuu Town. Until his demise, Mr. Nyaribo was a tutorial fellow in the School of Business, South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU), Kitui; Chapter Chairman, UASU; and a PhD student at the University of Nairobi.

Son of Isaac Ratemo and Annah Kerubo. Husband of Elsheba Mokeira and Catherine Mutei. Father of Godfrey Okari, Ashley Nyaboke, Tasha Mona, Nyaribo Junior and Ivanna Kerubo. Grandson of the late James Mira, Pauline Kemunto, the late Gabriel Ombuna and the late Maria Ombuna. Brother of Pastor Ferdinand lyamweya (SDA Church), James Onsoti (RBA, Nairobi),Violet Nyaboke (Eldoret), the late Victor Omae, Caroline Kemunto (Ngong sub-County Hospital), Doris Kwamboka (Kitale), Boniface Michieka (Garissa) and Gabriel Ombuna (TUM). Son-in-law of Meshack Kerongo, Mary Kerubo, James Mbusya and Maria James.

There will be a requiem service at the South Eastern Kenya University Main Campus in Kwa Vonza, Kitui on Tuesday, 28th January 2020 between 9.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. and a fundraising meeting the same day at Kitui Signal Hotel, Kalundu from 5.30 to 7.30 p.m. Those who may not make it to the Kitui fundraiser can direct their contributions through Annah 0727 081 322.

Friends, relatives and well-wishers outside Kitui will have a fundraising meeting at Professional Centre, Nairobi, on Tuesday 28 January 2020 from 5.00 p.m. Contributions can also be sent to M-Changa platform. Paybill No. 891300, Account Name: Ratemo.

Daughter of the late Mzee Joel Mwaura Kibe and the late Mama Naomi Njoki Mwaura. Beloved mother of Kenneth Joel Mwaura of Laico Grand Regency Hotel, Nairobi. Mother-in-Law of Gladys Njeri Mwaura of Aga Khan University Hospital. Grandmother of Zachary Kibe Mwaura and Ethan Nderi Mwaura, both of KBA School Kahawa West. Sister of Samuel Kibe, Cecilia Murigi, Miriam Musa, Mary Ezra, Beth Kamotho, Anstasia Githuka, Agostino Njoroge, Emma Njuki, Patrick Kimani, former PS Zachary Mwaura, Samuel J Kibe, DE Mwaura Transporters among others. She was doted cousin to many.

Family & friends are meeting at her home in Mwagu village daily for prayers and funeral arrangements. There will also be meetings at Homeland hotel, Thika Rd on Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th from 5.00pm for the same purpose.

The cortege leaves Kenyatta University mortuary on Thursday 30th January at 8.00am for a church service at ACK St. Peters Mwagu starting at 11.00am. She will be thereafter laid to rest at her home near the church grounds.

Sister to Joseph Muthee, Margaret Wanjiru, Paul Wanjohi and Albert Gichuru. Sister-in-law to: Mary Muthee and Andrew Nyangate. Niece to Lucy, Nyatoro, Gichuru, Nderitu and Theuri. Aunt of Jinette, Damaris, Wambui, Blessing and many others.

The Cortege will leave St. Benedicts Funeral Home on Wednesday 29th January 2020 at 8.00a.m. The Funeral service will be held at her father’s home at Kigumo/Location, Igwamiti Scheme, in Nyahururu Sub-county from 11.00a.m

There will be a fund-raiser to offset hospital bill and funeral expenses on Wednesday 29th January 2020 at Holy Family Basilica (St. Bakhita Hall) starting 5:30p.m.

The cortege leaves Monteniuma Funeral Home Machakos on Saturday 1st February 2020. The funeral service will be held at Kathithyamaa Primary School grounds starting 10:30 a.m, and thereafter burial at family home Misuuni Village Tala location Machakos County.

Loving wife of Patrick M. Nyette, formerly of Central Bank of Kenya. Cherished mother of Charles Kimweli, Edward & Janet Nyette, Catherine Ndumi all of USA and Nick & Lucy Nyette. Sister of Jane & Wilson Nzii (Matuu), Joan & Late Major Juma, Elizabeth Kasango, Peter & Schola Kasango, Joseph & Irene Kasango, Stella & Albert Napier (Seychelles) & Mary Nzisa Kasango. She is the sister in law to John & late Grace Mutevu, Joseph K. A requiem mass will be held at the Holy Family Basilica on Monday, 3rd February, 2020 at 1.45 pm. Family and friends will thereafter meet at the St. Cecilia Meeting Hall at the same venue for the main fundraising to offset the funeral expenses at 5 pm.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, 5th February, 2020 in Ngwata, Kibwezi, Makueni County.

Daughter-in-Law of Late Charles Otachi and Robina Otachi. Sister-in-Law of Joseph, John, Ndemo, Late Philip, Florence, Mary, Barongo, Moraa, Sarah and Mokeira. Cousin of Omwenga (CEO Wakenya Pamoja Sacco), Erastus, Charles Mbaka, Olpha. Aunt of Emily Obino, Nyabetas, Nyamwanges, Osoros, Seses, Ondiekis, Oyugis, johns, Josephs, Philips, Ndemos.

Friends and relatives are meeting daily at her home in Gesusu and saramba village.

The body leaves Hema Hospital Mortuary Kisii on 30th January 2020 for burial at her home in Saramba village on Friday 31st January 2020.
