Miriam Njeri (Mama Kioni)

It is with humble Acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on to God’s Glory of Mrs. Miriam Njeri (Mama Kioni) which occurred on 8th April 2017 in her sleep.

Daughter of the late Stephen Muita and the late Mrs Freji Gathoni. Mother of the late Stephen Muita, Patrick Kioni, Cecilia Wanjiru and James Gikaria Kabiru. Sister of the late Jemimah Wanjiru, David Chege, Allan Ndung’u, James Mureithi, Reuben Mungai, Ruth Wanjugu, Kezia Wanjiku, Joseph Waithaka, Priscilla Njambi, Peter Mburu and Moses Muthama. Daughter-in-law of the late Manasseh Kioni and Mrs Cecilia Wanjiru, Sister-in-law of the late Eva Wambui, James Gikaria, Esther Muthoni, Isabel Wangeci, Isaac Ndaiga, Job Mukiri, Benson Gichuki, Leonard Mwathi and Eunice Njoki.

Funeral arrangements are taking place at her residence in Githurai Kimbo, at her home in Subukia and at Antonios Grill Nairobi.

The cortege leaves Kenyatta University Mortuary on 13th April 2017 at 6am for funeral service at her home in Subukia, Nakuru County, where she will be laid to rest.

Leonard Orina Omwenga

16/5/1994 – 29/3/2017

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the sudden demise of Leonard Orina Omwenga of S.E.K.0 (South Eastern Kenya University) Kitui. Son of Omwenga Mokua (Moi Gesusu High School) and Winnie Omwenga (Kegwanda Primary School). Brother of Emma Moraa ,Brian Onsongo (T.U.K) and Kevin Mokua (Cardinal Otunga Mosocho). Grandson of the late Mokua Mariera, Jerusa Nyachama, Stephen Omboto and Aska Omboto. Uncles: Anyona, Mariera Mokua, Sengera, Onsongo, Okioga and Makori. Aunts: Grace Kemunto,Grace Anyone, Milkah, Margaret, Trussila, Truphosa, Nyaboke, Peris, Violet, Mokeira. Cousin of Orina Anyona, Caren, Bilha, Susan, Diana, Lilian, Wilfred, Janet, Doris, Davis, Dorcas, Mosiara, Atinda, Eunice, Ondieki, Jairo, Orina, Mogaka, Hellen, Sirifa, Doreen, Joshua, Caleb, Bedina, Job.

The body is at Chiromo Mortuary. Relatives and friends are meeting at Keroka, Nyabiosi and Nairobi (Garden Square) for funeral arrangements.

The main fundraising will be at Professional Centre, Nairobi, on 12th April 2017. Burial will be held on Friday 14th April 2017 at Kegogi villge, Keroka Township Nyamira County.

Bill Parkinson (WHB)

Bill Parkinson, (WHB as he was fondly known) passed away peacefully surrounded by his adoring family on 9th March 2017.

Founder of Car Hire Services, Executive Air Services, Wine Masters and latterly Phoenix Aviation. He was born in Newtownards, Northen Ireland in December 1932. After excelling academically and on the sports field in the Enniskillen Technical School of Business he joined the Royal Ulster Constabulary.

In October 1953 he was recruited by the Kenya Police and served for fourteen years rising to the post of Chief Inspector. While in the police Bill learned to fly and later earned his Commercial Flying Licence. He became a full time pilot for Boskovic Air Charters before launching Car Hire Services based at Vic Preston’s Service Station.

Bill and Vic became great friends igniting Bill’s passion for motorsport. They both competed at the Nakuru Circuit and Bill still holds the Touring Car lap record for the Nakuru and Embakasi tracks. Not content with motor racing, Bill took up rallying and participated in the Safari Rally ten times.

After retiring from rally driving he became the Chairman of the Safari Rally when the event had World Championship status. In more recent times he concentrated on restoring classic cars and became the Chief Judge of the Africa Concours d’Elegance for ten years.

During his action packed life he was a formidable Table Tennis and Squash player and was the Kenya champion for both sports.

Together with his son Steve and his long term partner, Sati Reel, Bill opened the doors of Phoenix Aviation in I994. This has become a leading aircraft maintenance, charter and air ambulance service providing first generation jet aircraft to AMREF Flying Doctor Services.

For two successive years this service was awarded the best ambulance provider in the world and has rescued over 30,000 patients.

Bill and his wife Gill celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in February this year. He was a loving husband and was the father of Suzie, Steve and Ingle and a wonderful grandfather.

Bill’s cheerful and caring spirit is treasured by the family, his two sisters, brother and their children in England and the management and staff of Phoenix Aviation at Wilson Airport.

The celebration of the life of Mzee Bill will be held on Saturday 29th April at 2:30pm at the Nairobi Racecourse.

 

 

Jennifer Onyango-Anyetei

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the untimely demise of our mother, sister and friend Jennifer Onyango-Anyetei which occurred on 4th April 2017 after an illness, at Nairobi Women’s Hospital, Adam’s Arcade.

Daughter of the late Wilson Onyango Were and Margaret Joyce Onyango. Wife of the late Emmanuel Nunoo Anyetei. Mother of Jennifer Anyetei-Bwamu, Benjamin Anyetei and Grace Anyetei. Mother-in-law of Ben Bwamu Musavwa and Natasha Werema. Grandmother of Amari Werema Anyetei and Marcus Wilson. Sister of Pamela Wilson-Odero, the late James Fredrick Onyango Were, Josephine Onyango Ochieng, George David Were, Grace Mary Onyango-Adero and Christine Millicent Onyango. Aunt of Siobhain Georgina Odero, the late Isipho Odero, Rodney King Odhiambo, Randy James, Prince Wilson Were, Azariah Daniel, Qwame Adero Obondy, Zion Adero Obondy and Zolani Imani.

Sister-in-law of Gilbert Anyetei (SA), the late Victoria Anyetei (UK), Sowah Anyetei (US), the late Mitch Odero, Edward Obondi, Jacob Ochieng Okombo, Sarah Mokeira Were among others.

The funeral service will be held at CITAM Woodley on 13th April 2017 from 10am.

The cortege leaves Nairobi Women’s Hospital Mortuary on 14th April 2017 at 8am.

Burial will be at her home in Gem, Kathomo Nyagondo, Siaya County on Saturday, 15th April from 10am.

The cortege leaves Kenyatta National Hospital Mortuary on 13th April 2017 for a funeral Service at Nairobi Central SDA Church (Maxwell) at 7.30 a.m.

The burial will be on Friday 14th April, 2017 at her Nyambaria home, Nyamira County.
