Anastasia Achola Odoyo

It is with humble acceptance to God’s will that we announce the sudden death of Mrs. Anastasia Achola Odoyo on 5th February, 2017. Daughter of the late Pascal Angolo and the late Mary Angolo of Uholo. Beloved wife of Richard Odoyo “Okong’o (M. P. Shah Hospital). Mother of Rosemary Akinyi, James Opiyo, John Odongo and Peggy Atieno. Mother-in-law of Urbanus Makau. Grandma of Nicole, Bonnie, Tush, Shirleen and Angel. Sister of Cecelia Akinyi, Riphinus Omondi, Charles Otieno, Roseline Awino, Martin Okello, Macline Atieno and David Juma. Daughter-in-law of the late Albert Okong’o and Keziah Okong’o. Sister-in-law of Joshua Obonyo, Peter Okumu, Dorothy Opondo, Jane Ombogo, Barack Okong’o, the late Essau Omondi, the late David Owuor and the late Jared Otiende, the late Lorna Obonyo, Benta Okumu, Caren Otieno, the late Caroline Omondi and the the late Eunice Owuor. Aunty and friend to many.

Prayer meetings are being held daily at her residence in Buruburu Phase 5 House No. 599. There will be a Requiem mass on Wednesday, 15th February at Blessed Sacrament Church, Buruburu at 2.30pm. A Fundraiser will be held on the same day at Professional Centre from 5pm.

The cortege leaves Umash Mortuary on Thursday at 2pm for her residence for an overnight vigil from 7.30pm. On Friday, the body leaves for Nyakach, Gem-Rae. Burial will be on Saturday, 18th February at her homestead.

She has fought a good fight, finished the race and kept the faith. In god’s hands you rest, in our hearts you live forever. Amen.

Cyrus Mwangi Wainaina (Karumi)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing on of our Dad Cyrus Mwangi Wainaina (Karumi).

Son of the late Bernard Cege and the late Marion Nyakinyua. Husband of the late Agnes Wanjiru Mwangi, father of Catherine and Crispin Okinyi, Michael Maina, Rose Nyambura, Thomas & Anne Njoroge and Anne Waithira. The elder brother of James Cege and Hanna Waithira, half-brother of Kimemia, Maina, Waithira, Mwihaki, Wanjiru, Kimani, Nyagiko, Wambui Gacheru. A doting grandfather of Ryan, Roy, Claire, Cyril & Karumi and an uncle of Boniface Mungai among others.

Friends and family are meeting daily at his home in Section Nine Thika. The cortege leaves Bishop Okoye Funeral Home Thika on 15/02/2017 at 9am followed by a requiem mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church Thika at 10am. Interment will follow at 1pm at his home in Buuri, Mutheru Village, Rucu Location, Murang’a.

The cortege leaves Tenwek Mission Hospital on Monday 13th February. The burial takes place at home in Chematui Village, Bureti sub county on Tuesday 14th Febrary 2017.

Son-in-law of the late Shem Lung’aho and Esther Andisi Lung’aho of Mutzazi,Vihiga. There will be a funds drive at Holy Family Basilica on Thursday the 16th of February starting at 5.30 pm towards burial preparation. Burial date to be announced later.

He was son of the late Mr Augustine M’Mugambi Nkobotia and Mrs. Kathia M’Mugambi. Loving husband of Dina Ruguru and Father of Maureen Nkirote. Brother of Mr James Kimathi Mugambi, HSC, CFO – National Treasury and Benjamin Gichunge Mugambi – Meru. Brother-in-law of Mrs. Jane N. Kimathi (TSC HQS) and Karea Gichunge – Meru.

Uncle of Jasper Mawira Kimathi (Nairobi), Karwitha Gichunge (Kaaga Girls’ High School) and Nkatha Gichunge (Stella Mari’s Boarding Primary School). Cousin of Murega, Makuyu, Kaneng’ene- CEO, Aboronia, Kaborio, Muriungi, Mutura, Mukaba, Wanja, Gituma, Makena, Sabina, Karambu, Mugendi, Guantai and Kaimenyi.

Elizabeth Gakenia Muriuki (“Aunty Gakenia”)

We, the Wagithitho Family of Kayaba, Kirimukuyu, Mathira, Nyeri County, announce, with great regret, the passing on of Elizabeth Gakenia Muriiki (“Aunty Gakenia) on 10th February 2017 at The Nairobi Hospital. Daughter of he late Reuben Muriuki Kihuha and the late Tabitha Wambui Muriuki (both of Giagathi). Mother of Sophie Wambui, Brian Muriuki, Andrew Wachira, Esther Kirigo and Moses Kabocha. Sister of the late Esther Kirigo, Jackson Kihuha, the late Eliah Ngima Kaguamba, Loise Wangari Magondu, Ann Waguthi Ndegwa and Amos Muriithi. Cousin of Timothy Munuhe and Rahab Wanjiru Thimbui among others and Aunty to the Ndegwas, Kaguambas, Magondus, Kihuhas, Muriithis. She was “Aunty Gakenia” of many other people to whom she had no relation whatsoever. She was an institution.

Prayer meetings will take place at her home in Karen on 14th & 15th February 2017 at 4pm while the funeral service is scheduled for 10am at Karen PCEA Church on Saturday 18th February 2017. Internment at her Ngong Farm will follow thereafter.

Aunty Gakenia will be fondly remembered as a loving, doting mother and fiercely loyal and protective friend.

Daughter of the late Mzee Daudi Musuku and the late Mama Rosebellah Lubanga, of Eshihaka, Eshitoyi. Immediate sister of the late Emin Namayi Musuku, Wycliffe Musuku, Betty Okutoyi Lijoodi, Benson Musuku, Bernard Musuku, Late Aura Musuku and Dan Musuku of Lunza Division, Butere Sub-County. She has left behind eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
