We, the family of the Late Hon Mwangi Mathai, are grateful to the Almighty God for comforting and strengthening our lives for the past one year, for the gift of his life and the privilege of sharing wonderful memories of him. Your legacy lives on. Indeed God has been our Ebenezer. Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near. You have never been forgotten and never will. We hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain. Fondly remembered, cherished and missed by your loving wife Mrs. Lydia N. Mathai and all your children and a patriarch to those whose lives you greatly imparted.

We wish to take this opportunity to appreciate and thank the following who offered their undivided support during your sickness and promotion to glory. It’s been one year since you went to be with the Lord. Though not physically present, your memory lingers in our hearts and minds. Your Love, cheerfulness, hard work and Love for God remains a good example for us to emulate as we soldier on in life. We are reminded that it’s the body that dies and not the soul.

You are fondly remembered and lovingly missed by your wife Mary Njoki, your children, grandchildren, relatives, and friends. Dad, you are the best that we could ever have asked for.

We wish to take this opportunity to most sincerely thank all those who supported us following your demise. We can never thank all of you enough for the Love, Prayers, visits, generosity, and encouragement before, during the difficult time and for the continued support. Special thanks to Dr. Ngugi, Dr Gitura, Dr Mbugua and to the medical staff of Tumutumu, Karatina, Nairobi west, Outspan hospitals and Hazina Medical clinic who attended to Daniel during his illness.

We are grateful to the various organised groups that assisted us including the religious groups for the prayers and words of comfort led by A.I.P.C.A. Matiraini church, the funeral organising committee , the welfare groups that Daniel belonged to among many others. We the family of the late Elder Kamau Mugenda give thanks to God for His Grace, Faithfulness and Mercies for the last one month since our beloved Kamau left us. It has been one month of tears but also hope and we have seen God’s hand on this difficult journey with family and friends beside us. Your Prayers, words of comfort, round-the-clock presence, Emotional and financial support has made our lives bearable.

Special thanks go to the PCEA Milimani North Presbytery led By Rev Simon Kamande; church Ministers/Pastors and Elders present during the funeral service, PCEA Evergreen Kirk Session and Congregation not forgetting Parkside and Thika Road Districts. To the KEMRI Board of Management led by the Chairman Dr Naphtali Agata and the Director General Prof. Yeri Kombe and all the staff at KEMRI, thank you for your kind support. The Chair of the Board of Kenyatta University Research and Referral Hospital, Prof. Olive Mugenda and all doctors and nurses who took care of Kamau; Dr Waruingi, Dr. Killian Kariuki, Mary Mwangi and the ICU staff ; thank you. To the organizing committee, thank you for working long hours to ensure everything ran smoothly and family and friends were well coordinated.
