Mama Sofia Mulongo Nekesa Khaoya – Watta

She was born as a twin sister to Mukwana on 20th August 1939 in Lukhome Chebukaka Bungoma county in a humble family of papa Camily Wanyonyi Omukiyabi and Maayi Angelina Nabifwo, Omukimweyi Omunabukhwana.

She is the 3rd born in a family of 11 children. Her siblings Selina Naslmiyu (deceased), Teresa Nafula (alive), Mukwana (deceased), John Sofa (alive), Peter Mechumo (alive), Joseph Nyongesa (alive), Didimu Wafula (alive), Prisca Nasipwondi (deceased), Paulina Nanyama (deceased) and Michael Simiyu (deceased). Mother to Benson Wanambisi, Johnstone Webi, Dr Samson Watta of Texas Cancer Centre, the late James Misiko, Nancy Watta (USA), the late Joseph Wafula, the late George Simiyu, Dennis Masinde (Texas Cancer Center), Eric Sichangi (Bungoma County), Rinna Teresa (Police Officer Kimilili),Velma Watta (Nzoia Sugar).

Mother-in-law to Ann Nyambura, Jane Webi, the late Caroline Wanjiko Webi, Dr Catherine Nyongesa Watta (Texas Cancer Center), Pauline Webi, Pastor Joan Wafula, Angela Masinde, Mary Sichangi and others. Grandmother to Edward, Lilian, Allan, Oscar, Kamau, Makokha, Sichangi (Suzy Peacock High), Chwala, Mitchel, Sichangi, Emmanuel, Jonah, Faith, Kevin, Joseph, Ibra, George, Nove, Shirly, Gift, Noel, Reyshell, Naomi Sofia, Marion, Joash, Gracious, Godwil, Lucas and Wanjiku among others. American citizen grandchildren Tyler, Tomell, Travis, Tracy, Okechuku, Rachel, Lucas, Nabayi and Ceejay.

Her health started failing in the past 15 years with hypertension, heart disease, chronic lung disease. She succumbed on 24th November 2020 after suffering stroke and pneumonia the Nairobi Hospital.

Burial will be on 12th December 2020, Chekulo village Luuya sub-location. Luuya location, Bwake ward Bungoma county.

Son of the late Perminus Njagi (Kalinawa) and the late Lucy Marigu Njagi of Kigangari village, Runyenjes, Embu. Loving husband of Rebecca Wangui. Loving father of Lucy Wawira, Kenneth Njagi, Faith Muthoni, Regina Wahito, Michael Kagunda, Antony Macharia and Romans Njuguna. Loving brother of Jadeil Ireri, Antony Nyaga, Lydia Ndungo, David Njiru, Mary Kinoti, Nancy Mwangi, Grace Mugo, Dorothy Njuki, Margery Njeri and Rachel Njoroge. He was the father in-law of Hillary Kipkoech Songok and grand father of Amari Jonathan Songok. Uncle of many nieces and Nephews.

The cortege leaves ENA-Tenri mortuary on 11/12/2020   at 9 am. The funeral service and burial will take place at his family home in Kigangari, Runyejes Embu County.

Beloved sister of the Late Willimina Wanjala, James Wanjala (KPA Mombasa), CPL Veronica Wanjala (Kenya Police), Pauline Wanjala (USA). Step Daughter of Mary Oyengo, Late Joan Akello & Angeline Basungu among others. Step sister of Gebby, Chief John & Oduya Wanjala, Oganga, Pelele, Penninah & Auma among others.

Sister in law of Josephine Wanjala, Veronica Wanjala and Godliver Ningo. Grandmother of Elden, Evan, Lucky & Malik. A cherished Aunt of Nancy( Coop Bank Headquarter) Adv. Bush Wanjala( NOB Advocates), Evelyn (Safaricom),Allan Wanjala( NDMA Kitui), Cynthia, Jack, Reagan, Sylvia, Billy, Lucas & Raphael Jnr. The cortege will leave Life Care Hospital Bungoma on 10th December 2020 to her place of rest in Busia County, Budalang’i Constituency, Bunyala North Ward, Budubusi Village, Friday 11th December 2020.

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Jane Wangeci Njage which occurred on Friday 4th of December 2020 at Chogoria Hospital after a short illness. She lived in Chuka, Tharaka Nithi County, where she was an avid business lady and farmer.

She was the first born of the late Chief Hezron Mwai and the late Zelipha Warukira Mwai. Beloved sister to Rose Wangui Pinnock, the late retired Inspector Francis Wagura, Lydya Wanjugu Wahome, Lillian Wambui Nyutu and many other sisters and brothers. Wife to the late Councilor George Njage Ng’entu. Loving mother to Samuel Mwai, Catherine Wairimu Nyambane and Doris Wanja Njage of the USA. Sister-in-law to the late Pinnock, retired Inspector Felista Wangari Wagura, John Wahome, late retired Captain Nyutu and many others.

Mother-in-law to Shem Nyambane, the late Mercy Mwai and Tony Kimotho of the USA. Auntie to Hezron, Betty, Njoki, Ciku, Ken, Wangeci, Andrew, Mark, Richard, Yolanda, Irungu, Nyambura, the late Ngige and many other nieces and nephews. Grandmother to Moraa, Chris and David Nyambane, Pauline Mwai, Taiylor Keci, Antony Njage K., Irene and Kui Masaka, Jacky, Wambui, Quincy, Emmanuel, Shirlyne, Paisley, Marcella, Tommy, Alexandra, John, AJ and many other grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was our matriarch; a daughter, sister, wife, mother, auntie, grandmother, friend and a great family mobiliser.

Daily prayer meetings and funeral arrangements are being held at her home in Chuka and online on Zoom, following government social distancing regulations.

The cortege will leave PCEA Chogoria Hospital Mortuary on Monday 14th December 2020 at 10am, for Funeral service at P.C.E.A Karurini church, Chuka, Tharaka Nithi County at 11am. Thereafter the farewell will be at her home next to the church in Karurini.

Wambua Kenzi (Advocate), the Late Jackline Minoo, Winfred Ndunge and Cyrus Douglas Nzeki (Qatar) and Damaris Mulwa, Irene Mwende and James Mwendwa Kilonzo. Brother to the late Mbithuka Kilonzo, late Syivose Ngeleu, Julius Masave, Japheth Mutulu, Josphat Kithuku, Kasisi Muli, late Manila and late Kivuva.

Son-in-law of the late Rebecca Munwaa and late Kitumi Musainga. Grandfather to Mueni, Kilonzo, Scholastica, Faustine, Mbulwa, Ndambuki, Constance, Caroline, Evans, Michael, Mutisya, Fantie, Mercy, Emmanuel, Mulwa, Sammy, Stacey, Shammah, Linet, Wavinya and Mutui. Great-Grandfather to Mitchelle and Oliver. Uncle to Mutava, Mutiso, Nduku, Kioko, Duncan, Wavinya, Kilonzo among others.

Funeral arrangements are ongoing at his Kathangani home and also via zoom at 8:30P.M daily.

The Cortege leaves Machakos Montezuma Monalisa funeral home on Saturday 12th December 2020 at 8:00 am; for the funeral service at Kavatanzou Primary School starting at 11:00am and thereafter Tata will be laid to rest at his Kathangani home, Ilima Ward , Makueni County.

Loving husband of Marion and a father of Shawn Phanuel, Amos Griffin and Kimberly Millicent. Son of Phanuel Arika and Pauline. Son in law of Amos and Millicent Ocholla (USA). He was brother of Mercy, Raphael, and Elly. And a brother in law of Victor, Trezah, Dorcas, Wilson and Nelson.

George was a loving father to his children and the best husband to his wife, a true definition of a family man.

The cortege leaves Kenyatta Memorial Funeral Home on 11/12/2020 for burial in Asembo Kochieng’, Abuyu village in Siaya County on 12/12/2020.

George has fought the good fight and he has finished the race and kept the faith. Forever loved and cherished.

The family of the late Gabriel lreri Mucheke wish to thank the Almighty God for the good life we shared with our beloved Patriarch whom we laid to rest on 8th Dec. 2020 at Ugweri Kairo village, Kagaari South.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the entire Muchekes family, the funeral committee at Blue Valley, the Clergy from Our Lady of Assumption Embu Parish, Nthagaiya Parish, Local Government administrators in Embu and Kairo, our in laws, friends, neighbours, professionals colleagues and all well wishers for your prayers, care, encouragement, visits, financial and logistical support, after Mzee left us and was subsequently laid to rest .

Special thanks goes to his physician Dr. Mureithi Nyamu and staff at TENRI Children’s hospital.

He was a long serving Director in Unilever Kenya &Tanzania, and lately at KTDA.

The cortege leaves Kenyatta University mortuary on Friday 11th December at 6.00 a.m. Funeral service will take place at 10.00 a.m in his rural home at Njoguini village, Rwanyambo location, South Kinangop.

Family and friends are meeting daily at his Thika home for funeral arrangements.
