Tribute To Hon. Odhiambo Cyrus Omondi (Gearbox)

It is a sad moment for the people and the Government of Kiambu County following the loss of Hon. Odhiambo Cyrus Omondi who passed on while on official duty in Mumbai, India.

Until his demise, Hon. Omondi was the Member of County Assembly for Kahawa Wendani Ward in Ruiru Sub-County. Hon. Omondi was a dedicated, determined and a visionary Member of the County Assembly, who valued development and the wellbeing of the people of Kahawa Wendani and Kiambu County at large. Hon. Omondi was the Chairperson of the Education, Science and Research Committee in the County Assembly. He passionately advocated for quality education for Kiambu residents, particularly for the less privileged. He always lobbied for adequate allocation and efficient utilization of funds for bursary and education sponsorship by the County Government. He was a champion on matters of cohesion, integration and continuously urged leaders to embrace all people regardless of their tribe or status.

On behalf of the County Government and the great people of Kiambu, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives, friends and residents of Kahawa Wendani Ward.

May the Almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace.

Brother of late Esther Sirma, the late Ruth Kisiara, Zedy Biegon, the late Isaac Koskei, the late Alice Cheruiyot, the late Sarah Chepkemoi, the late Reuben Koskei, Zakayo Koskei (Rongai), Benjamin Koskei (Londiani) and Abraham Koskei (Kuresoi). Step brother of late Mary Maywa, the late Rachel Chepkulul, Joseph Koskei, Liza Chumo, Esther Seron, Samuel Koskei, Late Elizabeth Chepkwony, Sofia Munyi,Weldon Koskei and Wesley Koskei.

Son-in-law of the late Jeremiah Yabsoi & the late Grace Yabsoi and the late James Sinei & Ann Sinei. Father-in-law of Sarah, late Joyce, Stella, Walter Sang, Richard Rono, Samuel Langat, Flossy, Weldon Kirui, Dominic Rotich and Dan Korir.

There will be the fundraiser today (Thursday) 20/02/2020 at his home.

The Cortege leaves Litein Hospital on Friday 21/02/2020, burial will take place on Saturday 22/02/2020 at his home Kiptiriri Village, Cheborgei, Bureti Sub-County, Kericho County.

Daughter of Wilson Muchiri and Margaret Wangui Muchiri (Kijana Msafi Hotel River Road). Sister of Grace Muthoni (Gikomba), Alice Wambui (U.K.) and the late George Njoroge. Step sister of Samuel Njoroge (Japan), Stanley Mwangi, Benson Maina, John Gitonga and Titus Muteti.

Auntie of Cynthia, Silvia, Michelle, Tamzym, Tanisha and Trinstan (U.K.). Niece, cousin and a friend to many.

Family and friends are meeting daily for prayers and funeral arrangement at her father’s residence in Kahawa Sukari Estate starting from 6:30pm.

The cortege leaves Kenyatta University Mortuary on Tuesday 25th February 2020 at 8:00am for a funeral mass followed by final rituals at the graveside in Lang’ata Cemetery starting from 10:00am.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs regrets to announce the death of Ambassador Christopher Karumba Mburu, who until his untimely death on 16th February, 2020 was Kenya’s Ambassador to the Republic of South Sudan.

Son of the late John Mburu and the late Esther Mburu and stepson to Regina Mburu. Husband of Veronica Karumba and the late Esther Wangari. Father of Esther Karumba, the late Cyrus Karumba, Ruth Karumba, Maria Karumba, Carol Warira, John Mburu Mary Nyakanini and Chris Muchogo. Brother of Charles Mburu, Patrick Mburu, Chris Mburu, Teresia Wambui, Lucy Njoki, Mary Wambui and the late Elizabeth Nyambura. He was dear grandfather of Cassius, Sean, Curtis, Niall, Chris, John, Stacy, Diana Natalie and Arnold. He hailed from Mutomo Village, Gatundu South, Kiambu County.

Meetings will be held at the Holy Family Basilica, Cardinal Otunga Annex, St. Cecilia Room on 20th, 21st and 24th February 2020 from 6.00 p.m. Prayers and services are being held daily from 6.00 p.m at his Residence in Nyayo Estate Embakasi, in Maziwa Estate and his home in Mutomo Village in Gatundu from 20th, February 2020.

The Cortege will leave Lee Funeral Home on 25th February 2020 at 7.00 a.m for the funeral service to be held at Mutomo Catholic Church, in Gatundu South, Kiambu County starting from 10.00 a.m. Burial will follow thereafter at his home in Mutomo Village.

Brother of Herbert ‘B’ Mafunga, Molly Inyanji Mafunga, Foster Andanje, Roderick Musombi Mafunga, Valentine Sakwa Mafunga, Brian Mafunga and Yvonne Khayanga Mafunga. Nephew and cousin of the Lihungus, the Muchumas, the Kararnojas and the Kulechos. Uncle of Latoya, Elaine, Eugene, Earl, Lwire, Pedro, Alice, Ian, Maureen, Melisa, Laureen, Blaise, Naureen, Olivia, Nathaniel and Daniel.

Meetings are being held at his residence in Kileleshwa, Tabere Crescent, daily from 5.00 p.m.

The cortege will leave Lee Funeral Home, Nairobi on Wednesday 26th February, 2020 for an overnight vigil at his residence.

The funeral service will be held at The Friends International Centre -Church (FIC), Ngong Road, Nairobi on Thursday 27th February, 2020 from 10.00 a.m. Burial ceremony will follow thereafter at Langata Cemetery.

The cortege leaves St. Vincent’s Muhoroni Funeral home on 21st February 2020 at 11.00 am for funeral service at Songhor Catholic Church and thereafter viewings at her home in Achego Village. Burial will be at her Achego home on 22nd February 2020.
