Dr. Edith Wanjiku Gitao
Born: 14th March 1937 – Rested: 16th May 2017
Our Mother has rested from her labour and gone to be with the Lord, her deeds shall follow her. Doc Shosh will be dearly missed by all whom she loved and served at Akiba School, and the Anglican Church of Kenya, now that she has joined those who have gone before her. Beloved wife of the late Dr. James Karani Gitao. Daughter of the late Sospeter Kamau and Wangari Gitau of Uthiru, Kabete. Daughter-in-law of Jeremiah Gitau Muhia and Esther Nyambura Gitau of Gatiiguru, Kibichoi, Githunguri, Kiambu County.
Wonderful mother of Catherine Nyambura and Greg Leftwich, Philip Anthony and Regina Gitao, Winifred Wangari and Kenneth Mwige, Sospeter Nathan and Dr Susan Wamiithi-Gitao. Beautiful Cucu of Ruby, Vanessa, Malaika, Gakenia, Tugi, David Mutana and Karani. Devoted sister of Mary Nyakiaro Kamuyu, Naomi Wairimu Njukia, Meshack Kuria Gitau, the late Mary Nyamathue, Loise Gathoni, Lucy Wanjiku, Rachel Wahu, Gladys Nyokabi, Jane Mwihaki and James Munuthi. Beloved sister-in-law of the late David Muhia Gitau, Ruth Njeri Karianjahi, the late Peninah Ngugi, the late Moses Mburu Gitau, Mary Wairimu Githongo, Paul Mwangi Gino, Margaret Wambui Mwangi and the late Stanley Kimani.
Family and friends are meeting daily at 5:00 -7:00pm on Thursday 18th, Friday 19th, Saturday 20th May and on Sunday 21st May at 3:00pm at St Mark’s Church, Westlands.
Funeral service will be held at ACK St. Mark’s Church, Westlands on Monday 22nd May, 2017 at 10am.
