The entire family of the Late Mark Lichoti gives sincere appreciation to God Almighty for the time we lived together with his late son Mzee Shundu Lichoti. It is now exactly 1 year today since you physically left us and went to be with your creator and we still struggle to cope with your absence since then. You left permanent impressions in our lives and we fondly remember you through the lord Jesus Christ, our strength. We reminisce your reassuring smile, kindness and encouraging words. The memories gathered and the times shared together will always stand in the gap you left amongst us.

We thank God for the life we got to share with him and we also want to thank those who poured us with unreserved prayers, visits, words of comfort, contributions and tributes.

We were greatly touched by your prayers, words of encouragement, visits and generous moral and financial support that enabled us to lay our beloved mother to rest at Muruguru Village Nyeri County on 29th May 2020.

Thank you to all those who called, visited and prayed with us in Nairobi, Muruguru and elsewhere. We the family of Gladys Nyambura Mwaura wish to convey our gratitude to all those that prayed with us, visited our home to condole with us, offered your physical presence, material and financial support and comforted us when our mother passed away on the 26th May 2020 and the entire period leading to her funeral on 2nd June 2020.

We particularly wish to thank Dr. Wachira, Dr. Mbogo, Dr. Wanyoro, Dr. Ellis Odongo, Dr. Ngare and other medical professionals that did their best for our mother. We would further wish to express our appreciation to the PCEA Church-Mabanda, Catholic Church-Mugumoini, the Community of P.C.E.A Nairobi West and all Christian groups including ACK-Mugumoini that visited our home, stayed and prayed with us both during the period after the death of our mother until her funeral and have continued to pray for us. We have great regard and thanks for the entire Gitachu family both at home and abroad for the unity of purpose, neighbors at Ndagi and Gatanga in general who have been a constant presence at home. We also in a special way wish to thank our Friends and all our In-Laws who either accompanied us home for the “macakaya” and funeral as well as messages of condolences which were overwhelmingly comforting and their great support.

Our special debt of gratitude go to the Administration (Provincial) at Gatanga led by the Assistant County, Madam Wairimu Nganga, the Chiefs and their Assistant Chiefs who oversaw the security and the day of the funeral and ensured that the Ministry of Health guidelines on the 19 were observed and indeed regularly visited our home to condole with us.

For want of space, we beg not to mention all that were of great assistance to us by name and humbly request that you all accept our eternal gratitude for standing by us at the time we needed you most.

And to God be the glory for great things he has done and has fulfilled the promises made to our mother and granted her admission to eternal rest.

One year ago, on 8th June, 2019, God promoted you to Heavenly glory and peace. You will always be a committed Husband to our Mum, Our wonderful Dad, grandfather, brother, uncle, godfather, and a dear friend to many people. Time has not healed the pain we feel. We thank God for your integrity, hard work, bravery, love, resilience, humility, leadership, and generosity for 82 years. You devoutly served God, and the Church.

The Njiru family thanks the Munya family, Harrison Gakiavi family, Jacob Mwangi family, Muhuyu family and other in-laws, colleagues, our local community, the funeral committees Embu and Nairobi, and all our friends In Kenya and the USA for their invaluable support. We thank St Joseph’s Catholic Kianjokoma Church, Kibogi Catholic Prayer House, catechists, church choir, and other mourners led by Fr. Namu, Fr. Dr. Silas Njiru of St Matthias’s Mulumba Senior Seminary, and Fr. Andrew Nzule, Chaplain of Charles Lwanga High School for celebrating Dad’s funeral Mass. We appreciate our parents’ colleague teachers led by Dr. Njagi Karue, Mr. Murano, Mrs. I. Njue, Mrs. Gacegu, and Mrs. Mugo, Fr. Wanyoike (Vicar-General, Embu Catholic Diocese), and other priests, and dads’ students led by Patrick Njiru for their tributes and prayers. Quintet: we miss your infectious smile and hearty laugh, your unconditional love, guidance, quietness, care and your everyday check up calls, your generosity to family, friends and society. Though the heartache and silent tears we rest assured you are in a better place, a place of peace, joy and endless love where we will meet again some day. Though physically gone, you can never be distant – socially or spiritually.
