Rtd. Snr. Chief Papa Richard Wekesa Sichangi Retired Senior Chief of Ndalu, Tongaren Division

It is with humble acceptance of God’s divine will, that we announce the passing on of our beloved patriarch, Retired Senior Chief Richard Wekesa Sichangi, which occurred on 18th April 2026 at Galilee Hospital, Kitale, while undergoing treatment.
He was the devoted husband of the late Mama Bridgid Nekesa Sichangi of Ndalu Tabani Ward, Bungoma County.
Son of the late Kharemwa Sichangi Chaka and the late Veronica Khamusafu, and son-in-law of the late Agosta Mecca and late Esther Nabisino of Chesamisi.
He is survived by his children Judith Sitawa Murumba (formerly of LDK), Joseph Sichangi (Misanga), Jane Mwikhuwa Sichangi (formerly ofTelkom-KPTC), George Namasaka Sichangi (Sichangi Partners-Advocates, Director-Company Secretary Kedong Ranch Ltd; Chairman- Waumini Insurance Brokers Ltd; & Founder- Wengi Economic Forums), Peter Wafula Sichangi (National Police Service), Sella Wekesa Wanangwe (Safaricom), Irene Sitawa Makobi, and Augustine Meccah Sichangi (ChasingSun Technologies).
Father-in-law of the late Joseph Murumba Mwangale, Janet Kisiang’ani, Asman Paul Mabonga, Collins Wasike, Josephine Njeri Namasaka, Dr. Mary Wakhaya Sichangi, Dr. John Wanangwe Wanjia,Eng. Paul Makobi, and Irene Amenya.
He was a beloved brother of Natecho, Khisa,Wanyama and the extended Babichachi clan, and joins in eternity his late siblings Nabangala, Mafuta,Telila, Loice, Priscilla, Nabucha.
Brother-in-law of the late Lorna Wasige, late Rose Masinde, late Sellina Wekesa, JohnDee Mecca, Prof. Battan Khaemba and Sella Liko.
He was an uncle of the wider AGOSINO family led by their Chairman Joe Mikolela, Rtd. PPO Dr. Everett Wasige, among others and the Babichachi clan, encompassing of all his nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His legacy continues through grandchildren Ruth, Augustine, Freddie, Laureen and grandson-in-law Munyakazi, Shiela, Irina, Carlson, Chaka and granddaughter-in-law Brenda Cherono, Samuel Sichangi, Esther, Richard, Charlotte, Vicker, Viola, Vince, Samuel Ngugi, MaryGrace, Michael, Makiniajoshua, and Samuel Mecca. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Adrian, Taplelei, Tapsabei, Zivah, Ariah, Adele, Mireya, and Hezekiah.
Family and friends are meeting daily in Nairobi from Monday, 20th April 2026.
The cortege leaves Kiminini Cottage Mortuary on 24th April 2026 for a night vigil at his home, followed by the burial service on Saturday,25th April at Tabani Secondary School grounds, thereafter a private interment session at his home in Ndalu-Tabani ward, Bungoma County.
