Hon. Justus Murunga Makokha

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the demise of the Honourable Makokha Justus Murunga (MP Matungu Constituency). Hon. Murunga passed on at St Mary’s Hospital in Matungu on Saturday, 14th November 2020.

Hon. Murunga previously  worked at Mumias Sugar Company and Philips Kenya, as an accountant. He also served at The Kenya Assemblies of God and later the Embakasi Ranching where his hard work and commitment saw him rise to the rank of a Director until 2017, when he was elected to Parliament to represent the people of Matungu Constituency, whom he served with commitment and diligence until his demise.

Son of the late Silas Makokha and Asha Kutekha of Matungu Constituency. Brother of the late Benson Nandwa, the late Florence Kweyu Reuben Makokha and Dorcas Lanya. He is survived by his wives Grace Masitsa Murunga and Christabel Amunga Murunga. Father of Evangeline Akinyi, Eugene Murunga, Pauline Murunga, Joyner Murunga, Eurelia Khamwalitsa, Verah Murunga, Doreen Wileta, Talia Murunga, Maricella Ebenezer and Sonia Murunga. A doting Grandfather of Bubbles Mbala, Tanisha Mwaisha, Marivella Mutheu and Alazina Neema. Father-in-law of Donald Mwachofi, Bruce Matte, Ronald Mutwiri, Festas Mwanzia and Naciline Kendi.

Family, friends and many others whose lives he touched are meeting daily at his home in Utawala, Nairobi for fellowship and burial arrangements.

A requiem mass will be held on Thursday, 3rd December, 2020 at ACK St. Stephen, Jogoo Road from 2.00pm. There will be a memorial service on Friday, 4th December 2020 at his residence in Makunda, Matungu Constituency at 10am.

The burial will take place on Saturday, 5th December, 2020 at his home in Makunda Village, Matungu Constituency.

The family of the late Hon. Justus Makokha Murunga wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to The Government of Kenya and in particular, the Parliamentary Service Commission for the support accorded to the family during this difficult period.

Husband of Beatrice Achieng Murende (Former MCA Homabay County Assembly). Son of the late Mathayo Ong’injo Okelo and Late Catherine Awuor. Father of Kenneth Brayan Onyango (VAAL Real Estate), Mathews Okelo Onginjo (OAG), Jacob Opiyo Ong’injo (NSSF), Ayub Mandela Ong’injo (Parliament) and Pauline Valerie Ong’injo (blight Solar).

Grandfather of Mitchelle, Sean, Kyle, Kelly, Kendra, Neville, Alexi, Russell, Annabell, Mahlon and Gael. Brother of Late Mary Okal, Hon Salome Awino, Late Samson Ong’injo and Dan Tabu Ong’injo. Step Brother of Late Eliud Okello, Alfred Ong’injo, James Odhiambo, John Ong’injo, Jonathan Owiro, Late Kefa Ong’injo, S. J. Okello among others. Cousin of The Choka’s and The Owiro’s. Father in law of Judith Agong’, Caroline Oranga and Irene Achieng.

Uncle of Judy Okal, Linda Awino, Michael Odiyo, Brighton Tabu, Edwin Ong’injo, Denis Amonde, Mathew Omondi Ong’injo, Erick Ochieng, Hellen Okello(UK), Ken Okello(USA), Ronny Okello(USA) among others. The body arrives home for burial on 4th December, 2020 at his home in Homabay County, Lambwe, Ogongo Sub Location.

There will be a requiem mass on Monday 30/11/2020 at Don Bosco Shrine Upperhilll at 2.00pm.

he cortege leaves Montezuma and Monalisa Funeral Home Kabati at 8 a.m for funeral Mass at Gaturi Catholic Parish, Mugeka Murangia County on Wednesday 2nd December followed by burial at the same place.

The Funeral Service will be held at MCK Amiraki Church Kianjai, on Friday 4th December 2020 at 11.00 AM. He will later on be laid to rest at his home in Machaku Village home at 2.00PM.

Family and friends are meeting daily for prayers and funeral arrangements at his home at Kalithiria village, Tigania West, Meru County.

The cortege leaves Consolata Mission Hospital Nkubu on 2nd December 2020 at 8.30am for a requiem service at MCK Kalithiria Church, at 9.00am. The cortege will then proceed to his home where it will be laid to rest.

Grandfather of Lisa Wanjiku Njagi, Audrey Nyambura Njagi, Peter Githiri, Kena Marubu and Christian Mwangi Wanjema. Brother of Joseph Ndungu Kihumba, Jane Wairimu Njuguna, Njenga Kihumba, and Hannah Njeri Gicharu. Son-in-law of the late Mwalimu Wanjema of Karatu in Gatundu.

The funeral will be on Thursday 3rd December. The cortege will leave Umash Funeral Home, Nakuru, at 8.00am. The requiem mass will be held at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, OlRongai, opposite Kabarak, at 10.00am followed by burial at his farm nearby.
