Engineer. Joseph Nguiguti Mwaura

It is with deep sadness and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Eng. Joseph Nguiguti Mwaura (Retired Managing Director of Nyeri Water and Sanitation Company Limited (NYEWASCO), which occurred on 4th June 2026.

Son of the late Samson Mwaura Kagoru, and the late Hannah Wangari Mwaura. He was stepson of late Hellen Wairati Mwaura.

He was the beloved husband of Catherine Wambui Nguiguti and the late Margaret Nyambura Nguiguti. He was father of Anne Wangari, Peninah Wangari, Robert Samson Mwaura, Christine Gathoni, and Beth Wanjiru. He was father-in-law of Dr. Durrenajaf Siddique Mwaura, Robert Maheti Lusweti and George Ochieng’.

Brother of the late Gathoni, the late George Kagoru, the late Stephen Njenga, the late Wanjiru, the late Kuria, Rose Nyambura Kimani, Anastasia Njeri, Teresia Njoki, Jane Wanjiru, the late Wangui and the late Lucy Munjiru. He was step-brother of Francis Kagoru, Hon. David Njuguna Mwaura Kiburi, Jane Gathoni, John Njonge, Lucy Wamucii Tharau, Peter Gitau and Peter Mbuthia.

He was grandfather of Kevin Lusweti,Aaron Ochieng and Jeremy Ochieng. He was also a cherished uncle and friend to many.

Funeral and Memorial Details: Family and friends are meeting daily at his residence in Thome Estate, along Stream Drive in Roysambu Sub-County, Nairobi from 4:00 PM for prayers and funeral arrangements.

The cortege will leave KU Memorial Home on 11th June 2026 at 7.30am for a funeral service at St Gabriel Catholic Church Thome, along Northern bypass and the burial at his family home in Kongothiria, Kirenga area, Lari Sub-County, Kiambu County.
