We regret to announce the passing on to eternal glory of Hon.
James Dennis Akumu on 18th, August 2016 at the Aga Khan
University Hospital, Nairobi. He was former MP for Nyakach,
former Secretary General of the Organisation of African Trade
Union Unity (OATUU), former Secretary General of the Central
Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Kenya, former Secretary
General of Dock Workers Union and former Secretary General
of Sugar Workers Union.
Son of the late Mzee Blasto Akumu and Mama Patricia Abuya
and Anna Kaumba Akumu. Husband of Ruth Eleanor Akumu and
Grace Adhiambo Akumu. Father of Achieng’ Akumu, Nyakina
Akumu, Carole Ogwa Akumu and James Dennis Akumu Jnr.
(Agwambo). Grandfather of Ruth Ali Anam Ngwana, Malaika
Elimbi Bole Ngwana, Osiro Obong’ Rangau Akumu and Aum
Njamba Ochiewo Akumu. Brother of Mariam Onoka Oburu, the
late Asenath Bole Odaga, the late Jacton Ngonglo Akumu, Sylvia
Otieno, the late Alexandria Pala, Margaret Okelo, the late Hilda
Okumu and the late Jennifer Odera, Peter Akumu and Nicholas
Ochieng Mimba Akumu. Cousin to the the late Joseph Onga,
the late Martin Obala, the late Kapis Juma, the late Washington
Omolo, Martin Arombe, Charles Ogutu Osiro, Lawrence
Abong’o. Brother-in-law of the late James Oburu, James Odaga,
the late George Otieno, the late Francis Pala, the late Dr Ondiek
Okelo, the late Lamech Okumu, the late Peter Odera, Esther
Ngonglo Akumu, Florence Opiyo, Patrick Tolo, Ezekiel Tolo,
Lynette Tolo, Akinyi Tolo, Fanuel Tolo, Dennis Tolo, Geoffrey Tolo,
Victor Tolo, Grace Adhiambo Ouma, Nora Ochieng, Doris Petra,
Betty Owuor, and others. Son-in-law to Cllr. Benjamin Tolo and

The body is lying at Lee Funeral Home. There will be a harambee tomorrow, 1st, September 2016 at All Saints Cathedral
starting from 5pm. Mpesa contributions through paybill 811917. Church service will be held on 8th, September 2016 at
Maxwell Central SDA church, opp. Old CID hqs.
The cortege leaves for Kisumu on 9th, September 2016 by air and there will be another church service at St. Stephen’s ACK
Church, Kisumu. Thereafter, there will be a public viewing of the body at Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground. Subsequently, the
body will be airlifted to Koguta, Nyakach, and will be laid to rest on 10th, September 2016 and the service will be presided
over by Maseno East ACK Diocese.

Kisumu. Son of the late Akuro wuon Ondiwo and Damar Okayo. Step son of the late Keya Akuro and
Hannah Rabilo. Husband of the late Helena Ndinya. Risper Ochieng and Perez Anyango. Brother of
Sospeter Okunya, Daniel Wenwa,John Olala,Samuel Kola, Ogango Okoth, Odhiambo Akuro, Michael
Omedo, Lucas Odongo, Magaret Wadegu, Naftali Akuro, Juma (all deceased) and Peris Oyugi. Brotherin-
law of the late Sulman Onyango Adul and Mama Nereah Onyango among others. Father of the
late Walter E.Amisi, the late Jashon W. Oluga, Elijah Adul, Symon Peter Meyo, Florence Winja, Joseph

and mentor to many. Family and friends are meeting at his home in Seme Kanyadwera and at Meyo’s
residence in Gigiri Nairobi, to raise funds to defray funeral expenses. There will be a major fund raising
meeting on Tuesday 6th September 2016 All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi. Burial ceremony will be on
17th September 2016 at Bonde Secondary School, off Kisian-Bondo Rd. Interment later in the day at
Mzee’s homestead, three km away.

the death of Dennis Ashivira Lugonzo, which
occurred on Thursday, 25/08/2016. Husband
of Eunice Shivende. Loving father of Jentrix,
Sharon, Ian, Ceryl, Alto and Emmanuel. Brother
of John, Peter, Mary, Caro, Immaculate, Jacinta
and Assumpta.
The body lies at the Kakamega County
General Hospital Mortuary and it will leave the
mortuary on Thursday 01/09/2016 for his home
in Lirembe village, Lirembe sub-location, Iguhu
Location, Ikolomani Division, Kakamega South
Sub-County. The funeral service and burial will
take place on Saturday 03/09/2016 at his home
starting as from 10.00am.
