Mama Jane Wandera

5 June 1944. – 10th July 2026

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the death of Mama Jane Wandera, who departed this life on Friday July 10, 2026 at St James Infirmary Hospital, Busia, Kenya, after a long illness bravely borne.

Mama Jane was a caring and loving wife of the late Mzee Dickson O. Wandera and, an adoring mother of Hannington Wandera, Elizabeth Ndongi, the late George Wandera, Lily Suva, Emily Mbaka, the late Deborah Wandera, Phanice Wandera, the late Andrew Wandera and Daniel Wandera. Mother-in-law of Peninah Wandera,Apollo Ndongi, Edward Mbaka, Shade Mukanda and Emma Bwire. She was a doting grandmother of Yolanda, Kevin, Maureen, Shadrack, Warren; Sandra, Bernard, Alfred, Albert, Noella, Anderson, Solomon, Samson, Salome, Natasha, Chantelle, Kieron, Mawenzi and great grandmother of Jalen, Zo, Hazel and JJ.

She was the cherished daughter of the late Mzee Zacharaya Wany’angi and Mama Agnes Musigo. She was a daughter-in-law of the late Andrea Egu Sajja and the late Deborah Ajiambo Wandera.

She came from a very large family and was a sister of many as well as a loving aunt of many nieces and nephews, all of whom will deeply miss her kindness, wisdom, generosity, and unwavering love.

Family and friends are meeting daily at her home in eBukiri, Samia for prayers and funeral arrangements.

A fundraiser to offset funeral expenses will be held at All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi on Tuesday 21 July, 2026 from 5pm.

The body will leave St Francis Funeral Home, Busia on Friday 24th July, 2026 and proceed to St Michael and Angels Church eBukiri for a requiem service and then to her home in eBukiri Village, Samia for overnight vigil.

Funeral and celebration of her life will take place on Saturday 25th July, 2026 from 9.00am. at eBukiri Village, Samia Location.

“She has fought a good tight, has finished the race and has kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4.7
