It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Professor Francis Kimani Gatheri, Executive Dean, Technical University of Kenya, on 3rd June 2026.

Beloved husband of Mercy Waithera Kimani.

Loving son of the late John Gatheri Mugo and the late Hannah Njeri Gatheri,

Brother of Patrick Mugo Gatheri (formerly Senior Education Officer), Joseph Churu Gatheri (formerly Ministry of Housing), Peter Mwangi-Sam Gatheri (3N Sacco, Nakuru), David Mucheru Gatheri (formerly 0I-Jororok Day and Boarding Primary School), Robinson Karatu Gatheri (Naivasha Day Secondary School), the late Jane Wambui Gatheri, Florence Wanjiku Gatheri (Soko Mpya), Grace Muthoni Gatheri (Munyaka Primary School), Naomi Wanjiru Gatheri (Wanjohi), Beth Wathire Gatheri (Murungaru), and Samuel Gicheha Gatheri KUAT).

Brother-in-law of Esther Mugo, Mary Churu, Ruth Mwangi, Esther Mucheru, Jane Karatu, and Samuel Munyiri.

Devoted father of Hannah Njeri Kimani (Equity Group Foundation), Claudia Wanjiru Kimani (Naera Styles), Erick Gatheri Kimani (Technical University of Kenya), and Amanda Wambui (Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology — JKUAT). Cherished grandfather of Amara Zaira Ythera and Maya Waithera. Uncle, nephew, cousin, mentor, colleague, and friend to many.

Family and friends are meeting daily at 3 different locations i.e., his residence in Boma Estate, Kenyatta Road, at the Technical University of Kenya and Wanjohi plot 337 in the evenings from 5:30pm.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, 10th June 2026, at PCEA Kenyatta Road, commencing at 3:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, 12 June 2026, at Wanjohi Technical, near the Wanjohi Police Station in Wanjohi Town, Kipipiri Sub-County. The cortege will leave Engineer Hospital Mortuary at 8:00 a.m. and proceed to the funeral service, followed by the interment.
