Prof. Mabel Nangami Nyarango

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Prof Mabel Nangami Nyarango, an Associate Professor and the immediate former-Dean of the School of Public Health at Moi University, Board Chair of Bungoma County Referral Hospital, and Board Member of AFROHUN and a profound researcher at the AMPATH Consortium, that occurred on 29th April 2026 following long illness bravely borne.

She was the beloved daughter of Mzee Jacob Neyole Masinde and the late Mama Selinah Kisaka Masinde and cherished sister of Dr Alice Nakhumicha. late Sammy Masinde, Ms Irene Masinde, the late Nathan Temba, David Soita Masinde, and Prof, Edward Masinde Neyole.

Mabel was the loving wife of Professor Peter Mokua Nyarango and devoted mother of Archibold Ombongi Neyole Nyarango and Brian Nyandieka Wekesa Nyarango.

Sister in law of Mrs Rose Ayugi Temba, Mrs Caroline Neyole, Mrs Elizabeth Onwong’a, Mrs Grace Nyarango, Mr George Nyarango, Mrs Jane Muraguri, Dr Nicholas Muraguri, the late David Nyarango, Henry Nyarango, Nancy Nyarango, Janet Nyarango, Josephine Nyarango, Lillian Nyarango, Robin Nyarango, Joyce Ongayo, Samuel Ongayo and the late Christine Nyarang’o.

The Memorial Service will be held at Moi University Annex Town Campus, Eldoret on Tuesday 12th May 2026 starting at 12:00 noon presided by the PCEA Church. Thereafter the body will be taken to the residence at Elgon View Estate for overnight vigil.

The cortege will leave Eldoret on Wednesday 13th May 2026 for her matrimonial home at Nyabioto Village, Ogembo Sub-county, Kisii County for overnight vigil. Burial will take place on 14th May 2026 at the family homestead.
