It is with thanksgiving and joy in the Lord that we announce the promotion to higher glory of The Very Rev. Dr. John Gachango Gatu, former moderator of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA).
Son of the late Gachango wa Gatu and Muthoni Gachango. Husband of the late Rahabu Wangari Gatu.
Father of Naomi Muthoni & Stephen Njuguna, the late Samwel Gachango & Esther Nyambura, Elisha Kibacia & Beatrice Nyaguthii. Brother of the late Peter and Lucy Wairimu Kiiru, Mary Njeri and the late Dominic Gathecha, Ruth Wangui and Samwel Njonjo, Alice Wanjiru and the late Stephen Mbugua, Moses K. Gachango and Theresia Waithira, Eng H. Gachango and Grace Wairimu, the late Peris Waithira and Prof S G Njuguna.
Grandfather of Nick Ranji, John Gatu & Miriam Gakuru, Pricilla Nyaruiru, Gatu Gachango, Rahab Wangari, Jane Muthoni, Gatu Kibacia &. Lucy Njeri, David Githaiga & Grace Wairimu, Sam Gachango & Nyawira Gitahi. Great grandfather of Whitney Katulu, Sean Muriithi, Naya Muthoni, Issa Njuguna, Nathaniel Kibacia, Liam Kibacia and Jewel Nyaguthii.
Family and friends are meeting daily from 5.30pm at PCEA Muteero in Karen and at PCEA St Andrews Nairobi.
The funeral service will be at PCEA Muteero in Karen on Friday 19/5/2017 from 10.00am and thereafter burial at the family home.

A great Mentor known him since my childhood upbringing back in the 80’s as a young Presbyterian in Nyeri. I have come to worship with him at Muteero in my adulthood.
May he rest in eternal peace.
