It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that the fraternity of the Consolata Missionary Sisters announce the passing on of our Rev. Sr Ignazia Pia Wambui Murai who served the Lord for over 60 years.

Sister Ignazia went to be with her Lord on 3rd March 2017 at the Consolata sisters’ residence, Nazareth.

Daughter of the late Senior Chief Ignatius Murai and the late Berarda Murugi Murai of Mugoiri, Murang’a County. Sister of Ambassador Emma Murai, the late Thomas Gakiria, the late Josephine Watiri Michuki, the late Stephen Macharia, Richard Roita, the late Patrick Mucheru, the late James Mwangi and Thomas Kimangu. Sister in law of Esther Mumbi Gakiria, the late Hon. John Njoroge Michuki, the late Phyllis Njoki Roita, Rebecca Wambui Mucheru and Esther Wangari Kimangu. Doting grandmother, great grandmother and aunty of many.

The requiem mass will be held on Thursday, 9th March 2017 at Our Lady of Mary Consolata Church, Riara next to Nazareth Hospital at 10.00am and thereafter internment at the Consolata Sisters’ Cemetery, Nazareth.

    Sister Ignazia pia was a very inspiring woman of our time.
    She was religious and very respectful of everyone no matter the background.
    A great teacher, A great woman, a great catholic, and very loving sister.
    She must be remembered for her wonderful job as founder of the Saint Lucy’s school for the blind, where she worked for over 30 years.
    Grateful of her love and work, As her student, I will always treasure her in my heart.
    Thank you Lord for the gift of her wonderful life. She will remain, for us who knew her, an icon and a champion of love and charity.
    I send my deepest heartfelt condolences to her family for her passing. I will always remember her in my prayers.
