It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that the family of the late Peter Ogangah Ogutu announce the passing of Mama Grace Atieno Ogangah on the 2nd of June 2026 after a short illness.

Mama Grace was born in Kamuma Village of Oyugis Homabay County to the late John Oyoko Omwanda and ‘the Late Yunes Oyoko, step daughter to Jennifer Oyoko and Beldina Oyoko. She was the loving wife to the late Peter Ogangah Ogutu of Kasgunga, Kamagambo-sare, Rongo, Migori County. Grace was a daughter in law to Mzee John Ogutu Ogangah, and Mama Roselida Wanam Ogutu. Her step mothers were the late Mama Miriam Munga and the late Mama Mercela Mboya Ogutu.

She was the first daughter in a family of fourteen and was raised alongside her siblings: Prof. Odhiambo Oyoko, the late Oscar Oyoko, Prisca Akeyo, Rachel Akoth, James Otieno, Stephen Nyamisi, Millicent Oyoko, the late Jackline Adhiambo, the late Nyacharo, the late Onyango, Immaculate Oyoko, Molly Oyoko and Allan Oyoko. Her cousins include Ted Olang, Damar, Steve Omollo, Solomon, Rebecca, Jany, Elsa, Awino, Ezra, Javan, Duncan, and the late Churchill amongst others.

She was a devoted mother to eight children: Maureen Ogangah, Rose Ogangah, Claris Ogangah, Janet Ogangah, Patrick Ogangah, Christine Ogangah, Lydia Ogangah and John Ogutu Ogangah (Mike). Grand mother to Greg, Trevor (US), Glen, Castro (Australia), Larry (Canada), Barry (US), lan, Karl, Xavier, Vanessa, Ethan, Ella, Pete Jnr (UK), William Jnr (UK) and Nathan.
Mother-in-law to Laban Onono, Richard Roche, Dr. Ezekiel Onyango, the late Caroli Kasuku, Dr. Judith Oloo Otula, Aggrey Osiemo, Ramsey Afande, and Stella Gakii.

Nyiwende to The Onono family of Gem, Jeremiah Amollo Roche family of Sakwa – Awendo, The Onyango family of Kisumu, the Kasuku family of Gwassi, Hon. Oloo Otula’s family of Kokal – Oyugis, Family of Mzee Oduge of Sidindi – Ugenya, Mbae family of Chuka and the family of Reverend Obora of Vihiga County.

Her inlaws were the late Charles, the late Grace Yogo, the Late Peres Midamba, the late Samson Ogutu, the late Dinah Ogutu, Calvin Ogutu, the late Joseph Ondiwa, the late Feth Ogutu, Judith Obure, David Ogutu, Esther Omoro, Roselyne Ogutu, Erastus Ogutu, Moses Ogutu, George Ogutu, Ben Ogutu, Erick Ogutu, Baraton Ogutu, Lorna Ogutu, Beatrice Ogutu and Sarah Ogutu, Naomi Akello, Eunice Atieno, Florence Atieno Okeyo, Evalyne Adhiambo, Jane, the late Tabitha, Elizabeth, Rose, Mama Mercy among others.

Burial is scheduled for Friday, 19th June 2026. A funeral fundraiser to scheduled for the 11th of June 2026 at All Saints Cathedral from 5PM.
