It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our loving father Edwin Nyakundi Okumu who passed on July 20, 2017 after a long illness bravely borne.

Son of the late Mzee Agadayo Nyakudi and the late Mama Anna. Loving husband of Beatrice Okumu. Father of Siivanus (Toyo Construction Mombasa), Anna (Nation Media Group), Eunice, Ian, and Doris. Grandfather of Velma and Edwin.

Family and friends are meetIng daily at his home in Migadini (Port Reitz Road), Mombasa.  He will be laid to rest on August 5, 2017 at his home in Lolwe village, Nyadorera B, Siaya County.

Dad, you fought a good fight, finished the race. Rest with the angels father.

The Family of the late Lt. Col (Rtd) John Samson Oyunge wishes to express our sincere gratitude to all those who stood by us during this difficult time. We offer our heartfelt gratitude to the many friends, relatives, neighbours (Kiamunyi and Riokindo communities) and other well wishers who visited and were with us throughout the whole process and provided emotional and practical support. For those who travelled, sent cards and messages of condolences, as well as those who made charitable donations, we are truly grateful,

A special word of thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Apollo Hospital (India, New Delhi),  MP Shah and Karen Hospitals who attended to him during his illness and their relentless effort to save his life. To the staff of Umash Funeral Home for their professional services, to Pastor Orenge, Obwege and the entire Kiamunyi East SDA church for a wonderfully conducted farewell service and all Seventh Day Adventist churches and choirs in Nakuru and Kisii for their spiritual nourishment.

Our sincere gratitude to the FSD Kenya and BBOXX Capital fraternity, Riokindo friends in the diaspora (UK and USA).Your prayers and financial support was priceless. We also extend our appreciation to the organizing committees both in Nakuru and Nairobi who worked tirelessly and with total dedication to mobilize resources to accord John a befitting send-off.

We also wish to express our sincere gratitude to the Kenya. Defence Forces fraternity and their families, Hon. Samuel Arama, Engineer Peter Kimori, Dr Ken Omoke and James Michoma who stood with the family throughout the trying period.

There are many more friends, relatives and institutions who contributed immensely towards John’s treatment and also stood with the family after his demise whom we may not be able to mention by name. Kindly accept this as a personal and humble expression of our appreciation and gratitude.

Great Grandfather and Great Great Grand Father of many.

Friends and family are meeting daily at his residence in Pemwai. The cortege leaves Kabarnet Referral Hospital on Tuesday 1st August 2017 for a funeral service at AIC Pemwai. He will be laid to rest on the same day at his home in Pemwai.

The cortege leaves Kibugi Funeral Home at 8.30am on Tuesday 1, August, 2017 for a funeral service and burial at his home Gatwe (Kianjagi) village,  Mutira Location, Kirinyaga County.
