With a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of God, we write to tell the world that our darling sister Edna Shamala Okem is no more. She went to be with the Lord on the evening of Friday, 24th March 2017 at Nairobi Women’s Hospital.

Daughter of the late Jackton Shamala and Margaret Shamala. Loving wife of Uba Okem Idika. Mother of Junior lkechukwu ldika. Daughter-in-law of Uba and Florence Idika. Sister of Kennedy Shamala, Immaculate Shamala and Phanice Mulengwa. Sister-in-law of Alfred Mwangi, Beth Muthoni, Chakubuta Mulengwa, Uche Idika, Chioma Idika. Obinna Idika and Chikode Idika.Aunt of Barbara, Jackton (JJ), Abantu,Azanta, Nathaniel, Masoka, Kevin and Kibibi Eriyo. Niece of John Sitati, Ann Mokofu (USA), Eunice Mima, Steve Kabaka, the late Nyikuri, Mukaisi, Jecirose and Puti. Cousin of the Musiranyombes, Nyikurus, Litalis, Shivonas, Mukaisi, Mmasis, Mularis, Putis, Khevalis, Sitatis, Thomas, Mokufus, Miimas, Ogutus, Kabakas, Wayekos and the Muvombes.

Family and friends are meeting daily at their home in Nabro Apartments house number A2, Yaya Centre. The main fundraising to offset the funeral expenses will be held on Friday, 31st March 2017 at All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi from 5pm. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, 2nd April 2017 at Umash Funeral Home at 2pm. Burial will be held on Wednesday, 5th April 2017 at Lurambi farm — Kiungani, Nabiswa Ward, Kitale.

Edna, you were so vibrant. Full of life and love, a friend and confidant to many. Sleep on dear sister, wife, daughter.
